This poll is for guys that are actually running 8717's on 8v, not for guys that have heard of a failure....?

I know Finless had a failure, but heard him talk about it possibly being do to a tight linkage on the Aurora. Bob can you elaborate on your this?

If you've had a failure please elaborate on your setup....

Yes i did have one failure and it was within 10 flights. I think it was just a bad servo from the get go as after replacing it AND loosening up the links it has been fine since.

BTW I will add that I do know about 5 other failures from other people in my area. Some on 6V and some on 8V.

No failure yet but I have noticed a lot of the 8717's are noisy and notchy, all the ones I have are anyway :P

From what I understand there's a new 8717 coming out the 8717 HV.

600NSP > 100 flights @ 6v no failures.
700N < 20 flights @8v no failures.

Our's failed in the following manner.

One failed after setting up heli and at field one of the cyclics failed during break in of a motor prior to flying the heli.

On another friends heli, his 8717 lasted about 10 flights or so and he was getting a strange twitch in the heli like a frequency "hit" or glitch. He came in to hover and land and almost lost it. Got it down barely and just after the heli landed he could see the elevator servo just wacked out of it's mind moving back and forth in what he described as a random pattern and degree's of movement. Shortly after that it acted normally. He's afraid to use that servo again and is sending it back.

I've gone to using Futaba BLS 451's and will be using 2x A123's to keep V's at about 7v or under total.

I am running A123's on all my birds now and they rock! 6.6V and no problems with any servo's I've used so far!

I've got 8717's running on 6v on my 600 with probably 250-300 flights on it no problem. I also have them on my Aurora running on 8V for about 100 flights with no problem. I'm going to switch my 600 to 8v very soon, just waiting on the voltage regulator for the gyro.

I have 3 helis with 8717s on 8 volts. They have been working perfectly (knock on wood) :YeaBaby:

Ooops ... just lost an 8717 on collective on my Raptor 90SE this past weekend. Luckily it had just landed! Better lucky than good anyday! Just started twitching and wouldn't stop. New servo fixed it! Also lost an 8717 on throttle a couple of weeks ago so I'm starting to wonder if there are some bad batches out there?
