How much does the darkside charge to repair a dead motor in the S9251 tail rotor servos that is out of the one year warranty period? I have one that died last week.

Last year I had a gyro/tail rotor fail that was still under warranty. I sent them in with a copy of the receipt and was surprised that I had to fight tooth and nail for them to fix it under warranty. They said I had no receipt. I kept a copy of the receipt and detailed letter I sent with the package, but they wouldn't take my word for it. I was forced to snail mail them another copy. They then told me it wasn't covered, even with the letter and receipt. I again had to go to bat and fight for my rights. In the end and 4 weeks later I got my gyro returned in working order.

I don't want to send in my dead servo, pay for shipping, only to get the run around. I suspect they will charge around $90 to fix or repair it. I would perfer to save the drama and keep this one for spare parts.

However, if they would fix it for $40-50 it would easily be worth the effort to send it in.

Share you experiences with me.

If it is only a dead motor. I am guessing the price will be about $60 for the motor plus labor of changing it. I would think your probably looking at close to $100.
The coreless motors are not that inexpensive from my past experience.

Usually if it is the motor that is bad on a servo. It is best to buy a new servo from my experience.

It's always a good idea to send it in. If they determine that it is not economically fixable they will offer you a new one at or near dealer cost.
