Hey i just got my 500 fuselage for my trex in the mail. I was wondering if people came up with any other solutions for the tail servo placement (other than creating an extention and mounting it vertically). I was also wondering how many wood slides people put underneat the frame and the mount?

Also has anyone had issues with the flybar hitting the fuselage at extreme angles? cuz i mocked it up a bit and gave it a twist and it seems as though the flybar paddle hits the top end of the fuselage. Do you simply not do extreme turns then? do you limit the servo throw and end points to avoid a messy situation?

Thnx in advance

I'm waiting on a Heli-Artist 500D as well. Sorry but this is just me being anal, I don't believe the 500D was made by McDonnell Douglas as your title suggests. The 500D model was made by Hughes. McDonnell Douglas made the MD series of helicopters (which are based on the 500D) later. Could be wrong on this, sorry again, back to the real topic! :)

I think MD bought the Hughes helicopter division Therefore now thats you are seeing MD500D, MD500E MD530 ETC... The original designation has been the Hughes 369 helicopter.

No MD 500D

They may support the Hughes 500D but there is no model designated MD 500D.

At the risk of :DH, I must apologize. I dug out my Hughes 500 manual (got my type rating years ago), and lo and behold under Helicopter Certification it says;

The FAA model designation is - Model 369D

The McDonnell Douglas commercial designation is - MD 500D

So there you go, on with the MD 500D build :)
