the strangest thing happened today ...

i already had flown my raptor90 one time, so it was time for a second one.
i opened the radio waited for the gyro to initialise,
and started the motor on my heli.

i always hold a blade grip tight with one hand,
so no damage happens when for some reason the throttle is open.
and there it happened.

the motor started, and went to 1/2 maybe full throttle.
the radio was on, the receiver was on too,
and i had no stick/servo movement.
the throttle hold function also didn't work,
and i was struggling to kill the engine with the other hand.

eventually the engine stopped when i removed the fuel line,
but i could smell the liner in the clutch burned up.

i closed the radio first and re-opened it,still no movement.
closed and re-opened the receiver, and it worked well again.
i tried to re-produce that malfunktion but it didn't happen again.

one thing that is strange is, when i open the radio and receiver,
the throttle servo moves half way, then closes to it's correct position, every time.
i guess that " bug" happened in the middle of the servo movement.
cause the throttle was closed before i started everything.

now i'm afraid to fly that heli again cause of this.....

my radio is a JR 8103 with spectrum module, and AR7000 receiver.

this is my second flight with this receiver.
i fly all my other receivers AR6200,AR6100,more often, and they never did this.

any thoughts?

DO NOT START YOUR ENGINE UNTIL YOU VERIFY CONTROL MOVEMENT.

Rx and Tx do NOT always link up.

DO NOT START YOUR ENGINE UNTIL YOU VERIFY CONTROL MOVEMENT.

Rx and Tx do NOT always link up.

so this is a common problem?
i'm worried if my receiver is faulty.

can you explain the strange throttle servo movement before initialising?
fail-safe....something maybe?

Before linking, the Rx sends out the bind position for all channels EXCEPT the throttle. The throttle get NO signal. With no signal, the throttle servo may do any number of things.

Byt the gyro will initialize because it gets the servo pulse length set at binding.

There can be times when the Tx and Rx don't link. If the Tx can't find two clear channels, it doesn't transmit. If the Tx is too close it can swamp the Rx and prevent linking. If you are under a metal canopy of near a metal shed wall the relfections of the signal can prevent linking.

The way to tell if it has linked is to either make sure all the Rx LEDs are on solid, or that the controls work. Just wiggle the cyclic.

thank you for explaining,
i was next to my car, starting the helis engine from the car battery.
...didn't know that, thanks.

Is it possible you haven't re-bound the reciever since you set it up? Your throttle failsafe position may be incorrect after all your channels were set up. When the radio was in close proximity to the receiver, it may have lost signal or may have lost line of sight. I have seen this happen before.

Just a thought....

I have had this same thing happen to me about 4-5 times. I just turn off everything and start up all over. I have never had a glitch on my T-rex 600N once binded.
