A very nice way to go 18V Lithium is using a new style Makita drill battery. Using a $40 adapter, you can attach the Makita battery straight to the starter making a very nice setup. Most people use the 3Ah battery but I use the less expensive 1.5Ah battery which makes it even lighter and the charge lasts a very long time.

If you don't already use Makita Li-ion tools, investing in the battery and charger is a bit pricey. However, you can buy a hand drill with two batteries and a charger for less than $150. Here's an example for a 1.5Ah drill (nice size battery for the starter) and it comes with two batteries and a charger that will handle both 1.5Ah and 3.0Ah packs.

Plus, when it's all done, you have a nice drill. I used this same model to drive over 4000 2.25" wood screws building an out-bulding in my back yard year before last.

I used two old 11.1V 3s1p batteries from my TRex 450 in parallel. Kicks the 700 over without any trouble. Starter is a 12 V Thunder Tiger. Batteries last a few weeks before needing a charge.

3S is 3 cells in series and 1P is one cell in parallel. This is how you wire LiPo batteries in parallel.
Also this is a great sight to answer your questions:

I don't like LiPo's on starters because of the fact these batteries damage quite easily due to use and transport, and we all know what happens when you puncture a LiPo, not something I want in my toolbox and / or car .
That's why I went Makita style also

The hot ticket is 2 of your old Trex450 3S packs in series. It is the best combo for the Dynatron. It turns a 90 like its a 30. I only charge about once a month.

I've been using (2) 6cell 1800 NiCd's in series and it turns my 700 with ease. And its cheap to run.
