I'm kitting a new Stratus and was wondering if any of you used a YS91/ViperHead combo and if so, can you access both plugs without any problems?

Dunno for the stratus... on the Furys you have to get the motor out to acces to the rear plug...

Actually, you can use a universal socket to get at both plugs in the Fury or the Stratus. The one in the pic below is the one Robert Johns uses, I have one from sears, and I know Shannon is using snap-on stuff. The plugs can be gotten at in the VH without removing anything.

I have used the Radio South glow driver with the Viperhead. But I don't use the clip that comes with it. I have always used an alligator type clip on the end of each wire. You will probably have trouble getting the clip that comes with the glow driver on the angled plug.
You can get by with lighting just one plug if your not going to hover the heli. What I mean is when you click the heli into idle up the second plug will light. I have found it will not light if you just go out and hover the heli at 1400-1500 rpm. So when I was using the Viperhead for contest flying. I always lit both plugs when starting the motor. I would start the engine, and once started touch the glow igniter to the other plug. If I didn't do this the motor would not run right in a hover.

Thanks David - you're a fountain of knowledge ...
Are you lighting both at the same time with the aligator clips or are you touching the second once the engine is started?
And are you running the cool+hot plug combo or just two hot plugs?

I hooked the alligator clip to one plug. Then I start the engine. Once started I touch the clip to the other plug.
I used two Enya 3's, Enya 3 and 4 combo, two OS 8's, Enya 3 and OS 8 combo.
I never really could tell the motor ran any different with any combination of the above.
The pilots that fly 3D, don't have to light both plugs when they start the engine. Most of them go into idle up while the heli is sitting on the ground. So the second plug will light as soon as this is done.
