Ok Im bout ready to try these out. The only question I have left is bout my setup. I have the stock Hacker setup with a 55 tooth secondary.

You guys think I will be ok with this? I learned the hard way about changing the secondary. Didnt realize that I needed to change it when I went from TP Gen1 to PL batts.

Suggestions?

Your headspeed will be too low with the 55t but you'll get longer flights , I had a 55t and changed it for a 50t and I'm happier with the higher hs.

There is that much difference? If I ran the TPs with that gear the ESC would thermal in a flash.

I have the stock setup. Hacker motor and Hacker 77. Totally stock. I flew it this morning for a few minutes. Kinda liked it. One thing I havent done is plugged my Wattmeter in to see what its doing. Because of the way the packs are hooked up in series can I just plug it in and it will work or will that just read the drain of one battery? Havent done this before on multiple batts before.

SMITHB thats kinda what I thought after I read a couple other posts that epc2 posted. :) Its all good.

Hey Bobby, I'm in the same boat. My Watt's up should arrive either today or tomorrow from Tower :D. My batteries are hooked up in series at the ESC side as well.

What I'm thinking of doing is shorting out the negative lead side connector using a female deans connector with a loop of wire. Then I should be able to use a regular Y-Harness to connect both batteries in series, connect the Watt-meter, and then connect the Watt-meter to the remaining ESC connector (positive side).

Hope this makes sense... and is this how everybody does it? Or is there an easier way?

The best way i would hook one up is run a normal plug out of the Esc into the Watts up meter then make a series plug to come out of the watts up to the batteries
Chachin you dont even have to make a loop just plug up 2 deans on each side and parrell back to the watts up meter and then series back out of the Watts up Hope this helps

Hi all

has anyone more than 35 cycles on 5S Evo 3700 Packs?
if so, are they still ok?

Have blown 2 of my Polyquest 3700 Packs yesterday.
I got about 33 /35 cycles from them.
the other not blown packs give me only 3250mAh while discharging at 0,2C.
would say they are damaged too.

kinda expensive hobby, if we can`t get more cycles from the Packs

:(

I have right at 25 cycles on my 2 sets and they are still going strong.

What kind of chargers are you using and do you balance them with the balancers?

BobbySmith

I got 43 cycles on my one set and they are producing some serious power!! And i have been abusing them pretty bad i have been putting in 3000 to 3500 mah when charging the lowest i have seen the voltage is 15.2 the hottest i have seen them is 140 and they are still strong VERY STRONG!!!!

The poly quest cells are not matched very well

yea i would agree what charger?

Hi Will

i am using "swallow advance" Chargers. These are relative cheap 5SLipo Chargers, distributed under several Makes. (multiplex/ Hyperion/...)

Charging current is never more than 2,5Amps and never without the Hyperion LBA 6 Balancer.
I charge the Packs "through" the Balancers.

Lipo mode activated on the Jazz ESC, but stoped flying most time before it cut`s.

Was up for my regular 8min. After landing the Heli i opened the canopy and have seen the Big Surprise...
Second Pack exactly same way, 8 minutes later.

Bobby,

at the times the Esc had to cut the flight, i could put 3500Mah back, otherwise between 2700 and 3200.

i agree, they are not matched well. If you take out more than 2500Mah , the Balancer has a hard Job while charging.

i heard from a guy here, he killed his Polyquest Packs after 19 cycles.
He used them as a 10S 2P 7400 in a Plane for towing Sailplanes (Hope this is how you call it)
permanent pulling 70 Amps.

I don`t think they should blow under these conditions.

a Dealer here told me Evo`s are not only matched cells, compared to Polyquest. He thinks Polyquest and Evo`s are not same generation cell. They don`t show the same Voltage diagramm while testing.

Think i have to buy some Evo`s now. 43 cycles sounds good. That`s what i want to hear.

Flew these batts. Today for the first time and I have to say I'm really impressed.

Bobby, Do you know something about Fpower coming out with a new balancer , I tried to buy the 2-6 stay balance for these packs and another 6450 set that I have and Dave @ Revolution models told me to wait for the new one???

Just messing wiht you on the Packs. The performace is incredible isnt it?

Yep, it is .

The first flight was a 4 minute flight with some flips and circuits taking it easy with the packs and they only took 1800 back .The 2nd a litle bit harder ith some punchouts and a few tic tocs and 4 1/2 minutes long dont know yet how much they'll take back , charging now.

Ok, i got some 3700 FP EVO 20 Packs yesterday and was flying them this afternoon.

all i can say is:

insane!!!

Me and the Guys around couldn`t imagine that they can produce this much more Power than Polyquest 3700.
I need to take a helmet when i go to flying field, now.

These are really different cells than Polyquest use.
I didn`t have to preheat them. It was only about 8°C outside and the Packs had about same start-temperature. But they produced full power from beginning.
Polyquest never did more than half of the Power the FP`s do, when i started below 30°C cell temperature...

i stoped flying after 4 minutes and will see how much i have to put back now...
they were before and are after flying in perfect balance!

I was reading somewhere about "breaking in" these Packs.
Is this what you guys do, and how many of these "break-in" cycles should i do?

I try to take it easy for 10-15 cycles at least. I am very careful with my packs and they reward me with long life so far. These EVO's are lasting great so far.

Hhmmmmm. I put the 3rd cycle on mine today. they are charging now. the 2nd cycle had 6 minutes of mild a few rolls and easy loops. they took back about 2600 mah. I just need to get an adapter so that I can balance them with my TP balancer.

That is for sure. I really like it at this weight. Only drawback is if you have to auto into a strong headwind, you are not going to get very far but you just have to fly accordingly.
