Set your timer on 4 to 5 minutes depending on your flying skill level so you don't over discharge. Have fun, you will LOVE the way the Ion-X flys and feels on the sticks, My favorite heli I have ever had!!

Ok so heres another question. Are you guys balancing with a TP balancer? If so how did you make the connection between the FP batts and balancer?

My FP batts should be at home when I get back this week. :) Cant wait.

FlightPower have now started to supply packs with the "ThunderPower style" balance plugs.

WillJames,

Get the 4350's faster, you will have to spread the battery tray on the MXR which is easily done, but if you fly Eric's Tango setup which Clint is flying now, you should get 7-8 minutes out of it easy. I am still testing the 3700's got some of the NF on the way to try. I have been through 2 sets of the 3700 old forumlation flying them on the Ion and over doing it with them. If you are very careful they will work, but the 4350's should give you a good bit better lifetime of the packs and also a little longer flying time if you are careful with them as well.

I am running straight line curves Tony as I don't want to strip my main gear or crown gear with the V-Curve. Even a shallow V IMHO is a lot harder on the geartrain and since I have over 220 flights on my Ion without any mechanical issues even with HC, Clint, Botos etc flying it, I am sticking with what I have found that works for me and is easiest on the machine. I appreciate the info though, I know there are many ways to run the curves, but for me, straight line is it.

two things
When you said you've been through two sets of 3700s, does that mean you killed them? Did they puff or what exactly?

Second,
What setup are you running on the ION, ie, actro or hacker and what gearing?

Thanks

Yes I have puffed 2 sets of them, but both of them were using a CC110 and trying to use the new 1.51 firmware with fixed endpoints. There is definitely an issue with that firmware.

I am stil flying the FlightPower EVO 3700's and 4350's in my Ion and LOVING them. Ask the guys at Mooresville if it hsa any POP to it. ;)

My setup is Single Stage ultra reliable Ion-X with Actro 32-3, 10:1 gearing and now a Schulze 40.160 ESC (Thank you Tony!!) The machine ROCKS!! I LOVE IT!! I have aver 250 flights on it with absolutely no failures other than a tail gearset from a bad auto and tail strike in high wind. Other than that this machine has been the easiest to maintain and fly I have ever owned. My satisfaction with it is higher than any other machine I have ever owned. I LOVE this Ion-X.

Are the 3700s the new formulation? I have some 4350 new formula.

I have an actro, so should I go ahead and put the actro in? I also have the hacker, currently installed, and a neu that is on its way back from repair (now 2 months!)

It seems that people flying the actro have few problems. Also do I need the external fan with the actro?

I would just like to get some flights on this bird!

Thanks

No external fan with the Actro, but you do need the single stage install parts from MA. You will be doing direct drive, so no more secondary gear.

I am flying both the 3700 NF's and the old F both. Time will tell how they compare, both are hot as firecrackers. The 4350's will give about one minute or so more but they weigh a little more. My favorite is the machine at 10.02 pounds with the 3700's and just follow my timer and stop when it goes off. Fun fun fun!!

Entered an auto contest with the Ion at the Mooresville event and went first in line. I did OK 5 or 6th place but it was WAY FUN!! Ion-X's RULE!!

I just had my first flight with the 3700mah NF EVO's. Definitely more power than the old formulation. I have 3 sets of 5s1p3700mah EVO's (old formula) and one set of NF. A set of old formula failed at the seal and leaked electrolyte after only a couple of flights. The packs had been treated very kindly(still in break-in phase). Flightpower were kind enough to replace under warranty and I was lucky to get a set of NF.

The old formula packs have good power, and I wont be replacing them until I have too. However the NF seem to have that bit more punch and the motor doesn't drop rpm as much when you hit the collective hard.

My Ion2 uses the actro and a H77 ESC. I really like this setup compared to my Neu Ion. Its much lighter so everything isn't work as hard to blast the heli around the sky. All seems to be well with this setup. Time will tell how the packs hold up. I usually fly for 6 mins, first minute just a easy warm-up, hovering and a few circuits then into lots of flips, big-hard chandelles and loops, rolls.

Glad to hear you had a great customer service experience with the FP packs. If you have any other issues, please PM or email me and we will get it taken care of.

Glad to hear also you like the FlightPower EVO packs. I much perfer the very lightweight machine to the 4p BRICK I used to fly.

I just hovered the hacker 54t with evos 4350s and wow, head speed must have been well over 2Gs, sounded like a jet engine, this was with Radix 710s.

I have the 124-110 kit for the actro, is this the one i should run?

Will the Radix 710s be ok with actro? or do i need 690s?

I run 690 as light as Vic will send me V's which have a bit more bite then that 710 Radix. THey may work, but I have always run 690 blades on the Ion-X both NEU 2-Stage and Actro Single Stage.
