I recently got back into R/C after a 15 year hiatus. I decided to pick up a new radio (12Z). I'm slowly starting to understand the programming, but for the life of me I can't see to figure out how to set up Dual Rates (just one of the six D/R's is all I'm trying to set up).
I think I have the D/R programming partially completed (switch assigned and DR1 turned on), but I can't seem to find where I set the percentage of throw to the switch positions. Page 73 of the manual only seems to partially explain the process (unless I'm missing something).
Can someone talk me through setting up Dual Rates? And does anyone know if there is a "how to" video, or youtube video on 12Z programming?
Thanks,
SR-71
Hi SR-71,
If you fly heli, you may find it's more convenient to use AFR instead of Dual Rate. Try AFR setting which changes with the flight mode.

Could you explain what you are trying to do with D/R and heli's? I've used D/R extensively in planks, but none of my heli's...

SR 71,
I too have the 12Z. Fantastic radio. I always consider AFR as my "high" rate. You then have the option to set up 2 other rates, DR1 and DR2. Of course you dont have to use both. But to get em to work you have to first activate the rate, then select which surface (aileron, elevator etc...) you want to set, then select the switch you want to assign it to, then you have to select which position on that switch you want the DR to be on. Sounds like you already did all that. Once thats done though you go back to the screen where the graph is. Default it will say "Linear". Now you have to scroll over to select either Ail, Ele, or Rud. After that watch up there on the right while you flip the switch you selected for that surface. When you flip the switch, turning on DR1 and/or DR2, you will see that in the display. As you flip the switch you will see AFR, DR1, DR2. Like I said, AFR is my high rate so I leave it at 100%. Then you switch to DR1 and lower the numbers to get the reduced throw you want. Then DR2 can be even lower. After youre done with the aileron, scroll over to the right and select the next surface, ele for example. and repeat the procedure.
Once you have the DR set you may want some Expo. Let me know if you need help with that.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
