I have a CP+ which is now without the vertical tail support post. It sheared off right at the mounting hole. I've ordered a replacement - http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/EFL/250/EFLH1118-250.jpg

Is the best way to repair this to just drill out the carbon stub and add the replacement back in? I'm concerned the drill will chew up the softer plastic hole.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You will be ok just watch out you dont hit the tail motor wires.

I drilled out about half of the post and put the broken off part back in, added a diagonal piece of basswood between the tail boom and the post and so far so good - solid and the tail rotor doesn't hit the floor.

If you are looking for a good mod, get a set of superskids for that heli

It makes the landing gear a whole lot more solid and they give you a little ball
to stick on the end of that shaft as well as a tail fin.

They are very cool - thanks for the recommendation. Any idea if the installation is pretty simple on the Blade CP+ or does it require cutting and a complete overhaul?

Super Skids install on the Blade w/o any modification. Simple and straightforward. You'll just have to decide which battery tray to use.

Super Skids are tougher, have a wider stance, and make the bird look more realistic. They do add a fair amount of weight which is a blessing and a curse depending which side you're on. If you're beginning, the weight will add stability in a hover. But weight is the enemy when it comes to manueverability and duration of flight.

I just returned from my best pack yet.:) Several controlled hovers, no mishaps, and a great confidence boost. I think that once I graduate from the training gear, that I will install the superskids for all the points you just made. Have been reading up about them today and am quite taken by them.

Must say the kids were quite impressed to see the bird in the air (and then gently back down). This is getting addictive quickly.:smokin:

I'm a neophyte like you. Just got into this 6 weeks or so back so I can really dig your enthusiasm. I'm a life long aviation buff. I've flown Cessnas and Pipers as a student only. Never been in a heli, but I've always thought of them as addictive as heroin. Have flown R/C sailplanes and powered planes, but this is my first heli and I'm totally nuts over it. Would have done it many years ago, but I just found out how inexpensive the whole thing has become. Sweet!

Keep up the good work. I'll definitely do at least a pack or two before the day's over. I installed a auto-rotate gear yesterday, rebalanced the entire head, and it's flying like butter!
