I am thinking about the G4. Has anybody fitted the HS65 servos in there?

I have not tried but it is possible. Its design was configured using HS56 at the time of its design and conception HS65 did not exist

one thing to be aware of is that the mounting ears on the 65 are significantly higher on the
body of the servo than the 56.
that could have implications for mounting.

56's are being discontinued but there is probably enough stock on hand that they will be around for quite awhile. Probable will need some kind of spacer for the 65's to get them to the same alignment as the 56.

Charley,
Can you look into the installation of HS65 and if they require spacers could you possibly come with something.
I am looking to buy the chassis and will use the HS56 but I have the HS65 in my other Trex and I can tell you there is a world of difference between the two.
Thanks
Mark

Mark,
They will fit up to the mounts and will need spacers how much I don't know I did trial fit then at my LHS but have yet to break out the $$$ to buy one and mess around with it

CharleyHmm.
What do you think a couple washers may work? Are the spacers somehing you will work out in the future? I understand the HS56's will be discontinued and I also got word that the gear sets for the HS65 will be hitting the store's in 2 weeks.
If I was able to get a hold of 3 HS65 for you would you be able to come with a spacer for them?

Mark,
It may take up to 3/16" (guessing) as I only look and studied it briefly.
As for Hitec getting rid of HS56. Im just curious is there a info release some where as I asked my LHS about that . they had their catalog stuff handy with a list of items to be discontinued and HS56 was not on there please don't get me wrong as I do not mean to discredit you. It just seems odd to do away with one of the most popular micro servos on todays micro everything market. I bet just in this past year they sold more HS56 than anyother servo just because of this micro craze.
Anyhow, I would really like to know as this affects my frame along with many others and I would like to start on reconfiguration if I must.

I was told by the LHS they were doing away with the HS56...Don't really know if thats true but those HS65 are one hell of a servo. Once you put them in there and fly believe me they feel so much better especially on Hard 3D moves.
Anyway what is the difference between the G3 and G4 frame except style? I am still leaning towards the G4 though:)

I tried the 56 vs. 65 in my stock XL and didn't notice a big if any at all difference.
I swapped 'em back and forth with different combo's (6v - 5v BEC's) .. same thing.
If you are noticing a 'world' of difference, it's quite possible that something else is causing it.
