Hi.

I should have stayed in bed!
But noooooooooo i had to go flying:fly
Wel i did and on the 4th flight i tried a sideways loop.
Done them before, but not enough negative collective on the top this time so the poor hurry smashed ito the ground sideways.
One msitake to low:arggg:
I needed more collective today because i had lowered the headspeed do do some tests.
Stupid to continue the move wile it was clear i was to low.
Full negative would have saved the day. Hindsight 20/20 :DOH

When i got to the site i was just in time to see the ESC puff some magic smoke.....
Pulled the batt connector loose. Did not want the whole thing to go up in smoke.
A bit strange, i did hit throttle hold as soon my brain was able to understand what had happened. (that was rather quick this time)

damage:
CF blades
75 AMp gaui ESC
Z20-980 toasted
1 blade holder
Landding gear mounts torn from plastic frame
Skids bent. (broke when bending it back)
Main axis bearing (just 4 flights)
canopy
Flybar
1 paddle cracked
Body retainer(canopy holder)

I am wondering what to buy.
The whole thing flew well.
I did want a bit more power.:smokin:
Maybe buy the Z30-1100 ( setup for about the same headspeed)
Would like to keep my flighttimes about the same.
Anyone with info on the scorpion 1210??

The gau 75 amps esc is pretty expensive (only checked F-H)
Maybe the Hobbywing pentium 60???:thinking
Should be able to handle the Z30 according to specs....
The Gaui 500 blades worked fine but is there a cheep adres for blades like that.

Suggestions more than welcome!

The pics:
Rather obvious i guess
The one with the motor shows the insulation on the windings has melted on 4 poles.
I tried the esc/motor but nly got more smoke from the motor.
The bearings on the motor were also starting to wear.

Sorry to hear about the crash. That was a lot of damage for that kind of hit. If you get the HobbyWing OPTO, might as well get the 80 instead of the 60. The z30 is a good choice and you can dial it mild to wild. There was someone here ready to sell a hurri for $300 or something like that. That would be something to consider because you would end up with some nice spare parts after the rebuild. ;)

Noticed the crashed hurri for 300 bucks, but is has the Gaui engine and no esc.
Thanks for pointing it out.
I really like the Z20-980 and gave me excellent flighttimes.

It is a real shame that the ESC and motor got fried. Otherwise it would not have been so bad......

Someone gave me some info that the Hobbywing 60 did well on his Z30-1100.
The specs of the motor say max current is 60 and the Hobbywing 60 gives 60 amps continuously with 10 sec peaks of 80 amps.
Just looking at the specs makes me think it should work....but not a lot of people use it.
I live in Europe so i'm not really used to the American or Aussie way of OVERKILL;););):glasses2::glasses2::glasses2:
But I am still considering the HW 80.

At the moment i've got the Z20 and Z30 in my shopping cart at Fung's.:YeaBaby:
He's helping me out a bit as well, Great service!!!
