Anyone want to contribute to what a typical flight skills set progression should look like. I've started.

1. Hover
1.1. Tail-in
1.1.1. Self-explanatory. Hover with the tail pointed at you.
1.2. Left Side
1.2.1. Nose pointing to your left, rudder to your right. Looking perpendicular to model.
1.3. Right Side
1.3.1. Nose pointing to your right, rudder to your left. Looking perpendicular to model.
1.4. Nose-in
1.4.1. Self-explanatory. Hover with the nose pointed at you.

2. Forward Flight
2.1. Two point hover hold
2.1.1. Hover, slide to the left, hold hover. Slide to the right, hold hover.
2.2. Triangle hover hold, tail-in
2.2.1. Hover, move forward to a point, hold hover. Backup to a point to the left of where you started, hold hover. Slide right to starting position, hold hover. This should form a triangle.
2.3. Square hover hold, tail-in
2.3.1. Hover, move forward to a point, hold hover. Slide to the left, hold hover. Backup to a point, hold hover. Slide right to original starting position, hold hover. This should form a square.
2.4. Forward flight point to point circuit
2.4.1. Start with left side hover, move forward, hold hover. Rotate to right side hover, move forward to original starting position, hold hover. Rotate to left side hover and repeat.
2.5. Forward flight tri-point circuit
2.5.1. Same as 2.4 Forward flight point to point circuit with an additional point. Should form a triangle.

Anyone wanna add?

tail in hover should be limited to a relatively short duration, people tend to get used to looking at a certain aspect of the chopper and become fixated on only that.. It makes it harder to learn other orientations. I have the guys I teach start swinging the choppers to 45* by their 5 flight or so.

True Lamebird,

I started from a 30 to 40 degree angle. I found it much easier to see the chopper. A year and a half later I am into forward flight with great tail in turns and I can fly nose in to me with no difficulty. I am struggling with the nose in turns. I just can't get make the turns, I panic and bail out. I have great friends that are experienced pilots pushing me and I am very comfortable with that, any suggestions? :arggg:

Stick time.
If you know where you are weakest, practice it on a sim.. I'm weak in a number of areas, and I try to practice it on the sim, but will end up playing around after a few minutes.. But I've noticed that in site of the playing, I'm picking up experience and still end up inadvertently learning what I wanted to practice anyway just by sheer time at it.
Don't give up.

Then I am thinking too much and need to build confidence. On the sim I have no difficulty with the turns and I can even do nose-in hover all day with no difficulty. I truely believe that flying on the sim is more difficult. But you are right, stick time is where it counts.

I wish I got your message sooner. I would have charged up and we could have flown.
