Hi there,

I would like to get a 14MZ for my helicopter and I would like to know whether or not there's a difference between the 14MZAP and the 14MZHP that I would like to get.
I'm being told by the European importer and one of its dealers that there's no difference whatsoever between the 14MZAP and 14MZHP... is that true? (as they said that you can basically transform a 14MZAP into a 14MZHP very easily with a few screws turn (hardware level) and configuration change (software level) which can be performed by the user him(her)self)

If that's true... why do we have a 14MZAP and 14MZHP???

I'm sorry to ask but I simply don't know who to trust now :!:

Yep -

My first was the AP which I turned into the HP in 10 minutes

14 MZAP is for airplanes Hp is for Helis. The defference is the AP has rigids on the throttle stick. Anyway the 14mz can be modified to either one.

Yep - it can be used for both. I fly 40% planks as folks around these parts like to call them ($7,000 Composite Planks) - and plan to use my 14 for my Raptor and Trex.

Actually I did notice that here in Europe, the model that is being sold is the 14MZP (no A, no H) which is the reason why the importer is telling that there's only 1! model... (and that one can do both... heli and airplane) :smokin:

Dogg,
I believe that the North American market may be the only one that actually gets a heli or airplane version of the radios. From my understanding they are just sold as 1 radio in some parts of the world. I believe that has been the case in the past.

Just a few days to wait...

I have been asking the exact same question and not found a definitive answer. Please let us know if you find any difference.

I think I'm a little stuck on the question because there was a difference on the 9ZAP and ZHP. One had snap roll direction switches and the other didn't. I always thought is was a better idea to buy the A version and remove the ratchet.

I have two 14MZ, one each a ZAP and a ZHP. Both radios are identical except for a small spring on the ZAP version for the ratchet system on the throttle gimbal. The only other difference that I could detect is that the default "model" on the ZAP is a plane, while on the ZHP it's a heli.

2 14MZ's! Can I come to your house!

Do they not both have the spring? I fly airplanes and heli's about equally. Which radio is the most universal? By that I mean, does the airplane radio make a better heli radio than the heli radio an airplane radio?

Thanks,

Not if they're identical! ;) The tiny spring on the ZAP puts a tiny bit of back-pressure on the ratchet; on the heli version the ratchet is (by default) disengaged, hence doens't need the spring. It'll still work great for planes even after you re-engage the ratchet.

Don't you just LOVE the software driven radio where you can assign pretty much anything to anything else? I love it!!
