Hey I was wondering what people are using besides the flex starter. I am thinking of putting a hex adapter on the start shaft but will it need a one way bearing in it?

Hex starter is fine, one way bearing on the starter's shaft is your choice, I sure like mine.
Apply green locktite to the start shaft on the chopper and replace the pointed grub screws with flat screws and you will NOT have to grind a flat on the shaft.
Use a little heat to release it later if you decide to go back..

cool LB thanks for the quick response. Where did you get a hex adapter with a one-way in it? Any idea of the brand name? I cant find any right now. Thanks again

The Raptor 30/50 V2 hex adapter fits great. As far as I know there is no hex adapter with a one-way bearing installed. You need to get a starter probe with a one-way. I use the Mavrikk unit sold by Heliproz. It works great.

You could get an appropriate size shaft and attach it to your starter shaft and then chuck it up in your drill. I'm not sure of the size, but I put my calipers on a Hobbico starter and it's about 8mm.

the shaft itself comes of. you can then attach it to the drill head.

True enough, but then you don't have the one-way bearing and that's why he would be using that probe in the first place.

I just had a brainstorm, rare for me. :D I just measured the OD of an old 8mm Concept 30 main shaft. It is exactly the same size as the output shaft of most of the available starters and will fit in the Mavrikk probe and your drill. Any old 8mm main shaft would work such as one from a Shuttle. I'd send you my Concept shaft but I pulled it out of my junk box and it's too bent to use.

The Fury's head spindle is 8mm so it can probably be used also.
