View Full Version : Bad bearings?

Hey guys,

Just bought a 700 that is worked out really great so far except for an extremely small problem. The engine is brand new OS 91 pumped still just in break in because i blew up my old one on my second flight (it was switched from another heli). The engine sounds good, running nice and cool with lots of thick exhaust.
However, my tail has the case of the shakes... the shake is very very small and quick. It is not a gyro thing since lower gain does not help. There is a small noise though that doesn't seem to be good. Its like the sound of my gear mesh too tight but iv checked that and it looks to be o.k. and plus its not adjustable...
The sound appears to be coming from the core of the heli not the tail but its nearly impossible to tell...

No vibrations anywhere else ad it flies pretty solid but this little shake bugs me...

What do you guys think? Bad one way? Or is it another bearing or something completely different?

might be a rich mid needle setting. Mine did this too.

Also, on my first "torque tube bearing" CA install, I fubar'd the ca and ended up getting some into one of the bearings making it a bit gritty. That introduced an intermittent shimmy and noise into my heli.

Ill lean out the mid a bit. Ill check my TT bearings also...
Thanks for the suggestions.

My tail pitch slider was really bad, notchy and gritty in how it moved, not smooth at all...

Tried all sorts to sort it and ended up with spacers both sides of each bearing, this has made it operate silky smooth. However I haven't tested it yet as I am waiting for spare parts, but it definitely won't have been helping my shaky tail!

My tail pitch slider seems smooth, not notchy or sticky.

I am using the G-Force tail on mine since day one and it is silky smooth. One thing I noticed is the head is so smooth without any links it seems so well done.

Hey guys,

I leaned out my mid in total about 1/4 of a turn and the shake is 95% gone, only tiny little bits now that i suspect just come from vibration. Ill probably end up leaning the mid another 1/8th or less and maybe that will help even more.
