Someone please help me....

raptor 50 os 50std mp2

I have been having my motor just quit in an inverted hover, now i know what your going to say, change the tank lines etc

so yeh i hae changed the main tank and the header lines and motor lies, i then checked both tanks for leaks in a bucket of water all fine!

i have been flying around inverted and then after about 30 sechovering motor just shuts down , no hint of leaning out, i get the hthe heli in about 10 sec of motor stoping and the back plate is nice and cool, and has been a nice smoke trail also

the clunk lines are not hitting the back of the tank at all and have a about 3-5 mm to clear.

the motor has had new bearings in it only about 2 gallons ago
the carby is clean internally
has a fuel filter
all other lines are on tight

even the plug is about 1 gallon old and looks fine

but this is the second time in 4 tanks this has happened

anyone got any ideas on anything i have missed at all?

your advice is muchly apreciated

just to note i am new on heli freak and have been useing another site for a long time and have just gotten sick of the two galon experts and politics more so the politics, its great to come here and meet fairdinkum pilots
not fools

glad to be a helifreak !

That is a tough one, but I have to believe it is fuel related.
Does it happen with a full tank or towards the end of a flight?
I would put fuel in the heli and then gently flip it upside down (by hand) and inspect all the clunks to make sure they made the trip.
This way you can get a good look at the fuel system.

Tom thanks for the welcome

it has happened this last time with about 70% of a tank i have doe as you said already and rolled the heli over and made ure that the heli is getting fuel.

i do also beleive its fuel related but why does it only happen in a inverted hover not inverted flight ?
this is the most puzzleing thing for me to understand
i dont use silicon on the muffler to motor joint either i use a muffler putty and have done for years and never get leaks or any problems

When you get it back down is the header tank empty? If so try replacing the clunk line with something more flexable in the header tank and main tank.

wen i get back down the header tank is full there is some air in it but only say the size of a dime or small coin sized air pocket in it.

i have replaced the clunk line and to avail ?

any other ideas anyone ?

can ua plug just die or get something ingested in the motor (eg small bit of dirt ) and kill the plug for a second ?

thanks Dale

What are you using for tank pressure? I assume a muffler tap?
Perhaps the hole in the tap is partially clogged, and when you go inverted the excess oil closes it the rest of the way and starves the engine for fuel?
Try a piece of wire to clear it and see if that helps...
You say the plug has about a gallon thru it, how OLD is your fuel, and what nitro percentage is it?

Lame bid

good idea i didnt check that all

my fuel is definatly a fresh batch or 20% ntro 20% klotz

I will go check that muffler idea ...
i think that might be the problem now i think about it as those Muscle pipes i imagine will hold the left over oil residue in them for sure.

i wil let you know how i go tomorrrow

thanks agin Dale

hey dale, did you figure out what was causing your motor to stop dude?

i am having a problem with my raptor 50.. and i have changed the fuel lines everywhere..

i fly until the tank has about 1 cm of fuel in the fuel tank but it will start to chew the header tank like i land and there will be plenty in the tank but there is 5mm missing in the header tank?

any ideas?

Install the header tank upside down? It cuts off after a few seconds of inverted flight! I know of "an idiot" that did that once
