Anyone using thread lock on the flybar where the paddle screws on? Blue or green what have you found to work? No matter how tight I put the set screw the paddle will turn.

Scary
My heli has felt a little funny last time I was out. This morning was no exception it felt weird and the power was lacing but as always it is windy so on I fly! 3rd flight it really feels weird and as I bring it in the blades look out of track? My paddle was about 25° turned!!! I was dumbfounded how I didn't crash I am just thankful I took it semi easy on the last flight.

What paddles are you using? You might need a new flybar or set of paddles.

CA will become brittle on a nitro?

Thanks Rockin I need to make it work with these ones my budget doesn't runneth over. :P They are the stock Align CF paddles and the flybar is fine.

Take the set screw out and see if the end has flattened out. You might just need a new set screw. Approx. $0.35

Had the same problem as well. I use blue loctite on mine but only after a lot of tweaking. My stock paddles were made differently as one had an almost 1mm deeper recess over the other. I basically tightened the paddles down on the flybar as far as they would go. If I had one that was not level, I simply took the paddle back off and ground down that end until I could get the paddle tight and level to the cage. After I worked that out, I had to recenter the flybar with paddles as you do during the build. It took a little more fine adjustment at the field to get a wobble free spool up its all good.

Same problem here. Clean the threads out good with alcohol first then screw them in as much as possible and use lots of blue loctite in the paddles and set screws. After about 4 tries, I got mine to hold.

Try IC-2000 Rubber toughened CA.

My stock paddles slipped after the first few flights. No matter how much I tightened the screws, it just doesn't stay tight. Replaced the screws in the paddles with two off some plastic paddles and never had the paddles went loose again, so I suppose it was more of a problem with the screws than loctite. I didn't use any loctite, but it doesn't hurt to use some.

You're probably right but I want some insurance now that was scary.

Edit:
My screws weren't flat on the end. I put enough thread lock on there for the whole heli though so I think I am good. :D

That happened on my 600E and a few flights later the flybar broke where it went through the cage. I think it fatigued from the flight when it rotated. Keep an eye on it.

Ok will do thanks for the heads up. I do realize now after measuring it unscrewed one full turn so some scoring probably took place although there were no obvious marks on it. As soon as I have some cash I will get some better paddles and a new flybar.
