Hi all, i'm planning to use AR6200 into my 450 and 500 but cannot figure out how to set gyro gain since DSX9 use aux 2 ch for gain and there is no aux 2 ch in AR6200, do i have to use gear ch for gain ?? Anybody have any clue please

G'day, i'm a newbie at this, I had my first heli setup (450) by someone who uses a futaba so don't blame me if im wrong.
But from what I know, in your DSX9 menu, 3rd item of 2nd column should have something called the 'GYRO SENS', that would be your gain. And you do indeed plug your gain lead into the Gear channel because later on you can see that the different mode of Gyro (HH/NRM) is controlled by the Gear switch.
You have different switch-positions for your different type (NRM/HH) that is controlled by your 'Gear' switch, (different location for different mode tx I THINK).
Generally in HH (heading hold) you have your switch away from you, and in the 'Gyro Sens' menu make adjustment to the gain control and do what you need to do!
Again remember I am no expert, but I think that should be right...

OK if you don' have an aux2, you plug gyro gain into the gear channel. You don't use the gyro menu to adjust the gain. Use the travel adjust for the gear channel to set you gain value. Remember that it is not the same as using the gyro menu. When you see people use 72 on the gyro menu it will be less when using the travel adjust. The one advantage to using travel adjust is you can set heading hold on one position on the gear switch and set rate mode on the other position.

Then what is the Gyro Sens menu do? Dont you set your travel adjust on the gyro itself first?

On the JR 9 channel radio the gyro sense menu will only tie to Aux 2. On my old DX7 it would tie to the gear channel as well. I'm not sure why they don't let you on the JR but they don't . It is 6 of one and a half dozen of the other when it comes to using the travel adjust. It works just as well.
By the way when you use the travel adjust on the radio with the gyro gain lead plugged into the gear channel, you are adjusting the gain not the travel of the rudder servo.

oh, thats weird... so i should plug in my gain to aux2 if i want to use the gyro sens function?

Yep, If you go to the device select menu and set aux 2 to gyro (which it may already be) you will be able to set the gain on the gyro menu.

I see, i had a look at the manual and Aux2 was set to Gyro SEns by default, but I would like to know, howcome my heli still holds up fine without any gain adjustement? because i have plugged my gain into gear... is it just by luck taht it worked out?

Look at your travel adjust menu and see what the gear channel is set to. Also, what kind of gyro do you have?

Now you have stumped me. If the gyro gain plug is plugged into gear, I am not sure how it is working. I know for a fact I cant do that with my X9303. If I set my travel adjust to 100 with it plugged into that channel I could never even get the heli off the ground. I just tried to do a programmable mix to tie the gear and aux2 channels together and the radio would not even let me do that. Maybe someone else will chime in and explain how this is possible.

haha, I am away from home atm so I can't see how my heli is rigged up, might be that I have mistaken and forgotten that actually it was plugged into the Aux2, I mean I wouldnt be surpriced.
In setting it up I remember it was plugged into the Gear or AuxX channel and somehow the gyro sens didnt work, so instead they changed it around, so I don't quite remember how it was setup. Keeping in my its my first heli so someone was doing it all for me... I was aside watching...

With the X9303 you can't use teh Gyro menu with a 6 ch Rx. Because you can ONLY use Ch 7 (Aux2) for gyro gain with the gyro sense menu.
So you set Gear to Gear, don' t enable the gyro sense menu and set the gain with the gear endpoints. This way you only have one rate and one HH setting for gain.

Oh sorry, little misunderstanding here, I have a 9ch Rx on this heli I'm talking about, only thinking of putting the 6ch on my 250 which I'm still acquiring at the moment. So Aux2 should be present.
