I recently got a trex 500 esp and am now thinking of ditching the 600n for a large electric. i could go with a 600esp but would like to do a 700 conversion if the parts and knowledge is out there. i am new to electrics for the most part so i need some help.
i have seen one or two conversion kits that include a couple carbon fiber pieces and a motor mount for $75. which kit out there has is best? will more become available or is this what i need? as far as everything else will this do?
700n kit
700e conversion
CC HV-110
Scorpion brushless 560 (or the new 630)?
main blades(do 700n kits come with tail blades)?
pinion....?
2x 6s outrage 5000mah(for now...a couple more later)

any help on this would be appreciated...thanks again!

This thread is a seriously good read. I also seen on ebay for 75 bucks a kit for the motor mount. So between this thread and that part I think it is fairly easy.

Oh lucky you I found the ebay add. I have no idea of the quality or even if it works but he had a lot before so check the comments:

Edit:
No the 700n doesn't come with main blades but it has paddles and tail blades. Here's the scoop:

That's the same E-conversion kit sold by Helidirect.

Scorpion brushless 560 (or the new 630)?

I'm considering the 500. This will give me more teeth on the pinion and hopefully reduce the risk of main gear strippage.

I just used a Logo 600 motor mount and some spacer blocks.. Scorpion 4035-500, 17T pinion,Hv85,12s TP Extreme's.. and some scrap carbon for the rear battery mount.
here is a video of it flying...

Impressive Chuck! You've just helped me confirm my kV choice. Strong 5 minute flight. Me like!

so on the 500 motor you get more flight time but less power than the 560? is the hv85 enough for the 560 or do you need to up it to the 110 running 12s. i am planning on running 2 6s 5000 packs either outrage or zippy. are most guys running 690 blades on these conversions?

I've ran both 710s and 690 radix on it. I think i get a little more flight time from the 690's, also had a Actro 32-3 in it at first. I stripped a few main gears.
so i put the Scorpion in it with a bigger pinion. I haven't thrashed a gear since but i looked at it yesterday and it looks like it might be fixing to go. I used a plastic mount at first because i didn't want to waste 50 bucks on a metal one that might not work. well just as i decided to go ahead and spring for the metal mount, Readyheli took over the Mikado stuff and the price was about half what it was before. So I think most of the stripping was from the plastic mount flexing. Well Wth that fixed I've been testing it with "blast off" take offs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPn1ScU0LmU The Hv 85 has been working fine so far.
a 110 sure wouldn't hurt tho..I still haven't had the courage to try Gov mode again tho... Mabey this next weekend.

I could have this wrong, but my understanding is that if you gear for the same headspeed, power consumption and flight time should be about the same. The advantage is the bigger pinion with a larger contact area (more teeth), improving main gear lifetime. Is this right cgbole?

Yep, thats what i was shootin for. But i have another 15T pinion on it's way, and i'm going to put the Actro 32-3 back in it and see just how long a main gear will hold up. I'm not a "hotdog" 3D pilot but my poor collective management should stress it pretty good!
