Just can't understand why the engine is reaching 240F and cutting out. I've got the L/H at the factory settings (1 1/4-L and 1 7/8-H). I'm using 98Octane with Hi perform 2T Oil.

Can't seem to start it after that too.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have given up after the last run with the top half of the assembly removed where I ended up splitting the clutchand luckily avoiding the piece of the clutch flying off.

Thanks.

Check for exhaust leak at the header, also an air leak at the carb where it mates to the motor.

Does it tend to overspeed?

You want low octane not HIGH octane also. Richen the crap out of it. Mines runs at or below 200* if it is not "stinking hot" outside.

Phew! Got the engine started over the weekend.

Had to richen the low speed to about 1 1/2 and now it seems to run around 160F. Probably try the high speed settting after putting the top frame/head back on.

Is it safe to run the engine hard whithout a load??? e.g. without the top frame.

I thought the high octane would give the engine a bit more power (besides the gasoline here is way cheap.

Thanks all for the valuable advice.

I would NOT rev the motor hard with no load on the motor. I my self thourght that my self the higher the octane the better the motor will run that is WRONG. when we setup a motor here in we start with 2 turns out on the low end then we go 1 3/4 on the high end the tune the motor to sute i have had no problem after i have ran about 4 gal i change the plug and then fine tune the motor

I hope some of these tips help you
