I am building a 90SE and found a large clutch gap. My clutch bell is 1.809 and the clutch is 1.770, that is a total of .039 (.0195 per side). My clutch is also not round, it looks like the shoe section closed in after cutting the slot (1.764). See attached Pictures. Is this past the maxunim tolerance, should I re-line the bell or is my clutch shoe too small? What should I do?

The way to measure the diameter of the clutch is in the second picture. The one where your getting the 1.770 measurement. That is the part of the clutch that does not move.
The other measurement your taking is across the shoes, they may be drawn out or inward as you have found out with your measuring.

The .039 difference between the liner diameter and the clutch diameter seem a little excessive to me.

On the MA helis and the 90 size engines. The difference between the clutch and clutch liner is .010 to .015 . That would give a .005 to .008 clearance between clutch and liner.

all the clutchs are like that from TT its some thing that they do, you will not have a problem the motor will rev up more off the spool up and will engage after a few flights the wings will spread, if you find the clutch sliping call Ace and speak to Anthony he will send a new one out hope that helps
