View Full Version : YS91 sticky barrel

Yesterday I was out flying with my Fury Extreme / YS91   :D

My ThrottleCut could not shutoff the engine, maybe because I have changed from Wildcat 10% to Wildcat 30 LV – and the engine then runs better in idle. :)

Anyway: when adjusting the Linkage from the Carburettor barrel (on my YS91) to the servo, I noticed, that if I push the barrel “into” the carburettor (with very little pressure) the barrel get stock/sticky, so that the Carburettor arm bends when the servo moves……if I then “tickle” with the barrel it comes “loose” again.  :(

If I not push on the barrel it looks like it never get stocked - but I don’t know for sure if that will continue that way – and maybe some day in will get stock in flight  :(

Have any of you guys ever had that similar problem.

I believe Wildcat runs Klotz oil in their fuels. I had this happen when I was running the Klotz "Heli-Glow LV" oil. The low viscocity by itself doesn't seem to have enough lubrication to the carb and they will get sticky or notchy over time. What I've done since is start adding the Klotz Uplon fuel lube at 2 oz per gallon of fuel and I haven't had that problem since. I am still experimenting with exactly how much of the Uplon Fuel Lube to use but right now it's doing it's job. What I have noticed is that the throttle response is noticeably better with the LV oil and the over all burn is better, and no where near the mess after flying as with the HV stuff.

It's an upper end fuel lubrication additive. It lubes the cylinder, bearings and keeps everything free. Reduces friction which is one of the big things. I get it from Klotz Lubricants where I get my Nitro and Oil from.
