Any body have suggestions on how to tackle setting up all of these double links. I have done my best but cannot keep my servos from binding due to the links not being perfect. Some will bind either on the high end or in the middle, i cant get it to be smooth for the whole travel of the servo. I have it pretty good but i know it should be better. With the double links i never know what to adjust.
Is there a technique for setting the links up? or a best order to do it in??

I first set up one side of the double links, aligning the horns and arms to the proper angle (usually vertical for 0deg). Check to make sure you can rotate the links freely on the balls; adj as required. Then I add the link to the other side. They should still pivot freely, else the new one is too long or short.

Also, something I didn't notice until I was done is the link pictures are drawn to the exact size. Place your completed link over the picture and it should match up perfectly if it is the correct size.

A set of Calipers goes a long way for accurate link setup, you can get a set of digital readout calipers from Harbor Freight pretty darn cheap.

digital calipers are the 2nd best tool you can get in this hobby (hardened drivers are #1).
you can get the cheap Chinese ones for $20-30 or a nice set of Mitutoyo for 80.
Vario makes (check w/ ronlund.com) a set of 'tips' that attach to the caliper so that you
can slip a completed rod over the tips and precisely measure what you have.
On Evo/Freya, I always start w/ the upper set of rods since those HAVE to be exactly equal
in length due to construction of the X levers and output levers. then work you way down.

Ive been using a digital set of caliers.
Tonight I will try the set up with 1 link first and then add the lower link. Hopefully that will simplify the situation.
Thanks

Has anyone had to trim you canopy to get the swashplate to clear?? The ball link for the aileron hits my canopy.
Just wonder if this is a problem for everyone or if the position I painted it in caused it to bow some.

Nah I had to trim mine a hair.

It has to be trimed slightly. I used a dremel with a sanding wheel.
I use inside blades on the caliper to match ball links. Set your first link on the blades, and lengthen your calipers to get them snug against the inside of the loops. then find the screw that locks them down and lock them. Next, slip your other link in place and adjust until you get the same fit,l or as close as possible.
Easier done than said.

yea I ordered the Futaba servo arm drill guides. I hope they will help me. i got my holes drill pretty good but when the wheel was on the servo it needed too much trim to get it straight. It was my fault but hey... i dont think about things like that!

Did you ever get the tail boom that was missing from your kit? It has been weeks since you bought the kit at the B-Ham Event. Whats up with that???

Well the heli finally has a tail on it after 3 weeks. Hopefully it will be in the air here in a few days.

I actually got a boom in my heli kit, but found out that its mismade :arggg: as a friend who has one showed me his tail and its perfectly vertical wheras mine leans from left to right when viewed from behind! and no matter how much I try, it will not go straight! (ie, mines like this: \ (not quite that angle but that direction) instead of this: | :( )
Ordered a replacement today, so that should be here tomorrow all been well (but then again Royal mail over here can sometimes go slower than a dead slug! )

Call Jeff Green at MRC they will replace that. That was the problem with my first tail that came with my Evo. Jeff sent me a new one. They had a run of bad booms that got into some kits.

Unfortunately, im over here in the UK, and no matter how much we can hope, I dont think we'd ever get anyone whos as good as Jeff Green over here (every forum ive been on all sing his praises! whereas no doubt our customer services in the UK will more than likely be either A, an answer machine or B, a call centre where you spend the next 15 weeks hanging onto the end of the phone listening to either Greensleeves (which is nice for a couple of minutes) or some awfull elevator muzak that makes your eardrum bleed after 10 seconds! :bomb: )
