When is someone going to come out with a turbine for a 30-60 sized heli?

My interest lies more in the completed model being lighter. These 20+ pound helis are too big, heavy, awkward, hard to carry, etc.

Now, how about one for a Trex? LOL

Sara, I am first in line for one.

Mine's only 17 Lbs, and that makes you third in line! Sorry... :D

I guess the real question here is, does the MW44 Gold have enough grunt to run that gear box?

The MW44 certainly does have enough grunt to run a gearbox. It was shown at our Open Day last weekend powering a turboprop gearbox!

We know that a MW44 two-stage helicopter engine will be a very popular choice because it will fit the 60-size helis. We have every intention of making them at some time in the future. We have the design - that isn't the problem - it's just that we could do with a 36-hour day. All our current engines are very popular and we are kept busy producing them. The 44 is quite tricky to build because of its small size, and we need to be sure that when we produce the 44 two-stage we can keep up with demand. So our Research and Development department have to do their best to make it simple to build - now THAT's the difficult thing! If we were only going to produce a handful of these smaller helicopter engines it would be easy, but we know that there will be a huge demand for it and we have to have everything right before we start selling.

I agree Sara...Being in the RC Turbine business before...turning out a project is not the problem anymore. It's handling the demand and the service/maintenance.

I think the Jet-A soaks into the owners central nervous system and gives them an alternate personality when it comes to getting their stuff!

Hey Guys,

Sara will tell you how many times I keep badgering the Team for a MW44/gearbox heli setup.

Imagine a turbine 90 with the power to weight ratio of an IC version and then some extra power.

I'm top of the list for this one dudes :smokin:
