Don't know how many of you have looked, however there is now a very interesting feature in the latest software update that was posted today:
From the update readme file:
The additional dialog box appears when set the PPM modulation. Push the upper side button to select the PPM polarity. The Standard PPM corresponds to FUTABA receivers.
SOOOO, you really always wanted to use your 14MZ with a competitors PPM receiver but you couldn't because the pulse polarity was different? Well, now its a simple software setting.
This is the greatest radio made, and it just keeps getting better!

Yes it is the greatest radio ever made. And it is also nice to see that Futaba is making it better and better as time goes on. I was supprised to see another update come by so soon.

There is also now the feature that if you select NO on the initial transmit option you no longer have to cycle the TX power or change models and back or Frequencies to make the radio transmit. This IS the hottest radio on the planet, and I don't give a damn if I have to send it back, I love how easy it is to use and how Futaba is taking requests for features and we have seen 2 updates in 6 months. What is not to LOVE about that????

Does this mean that we can use JR receivers with this radio? :?

I would say now yes JR PPM (FM) receivers would work. JR PCM receivers however would NOT.

yup JR PPM can be used, you just need to change the PPM polarity to reverse.
Michael is correct, PCM is a different story.

My 14 has been in the shop for the last 2 weekends, I hope they put in the new upgrade fore me.
I still wouldn't trade it for any other radio out there.

being able to run on JR PPM Rx is BIG !! i don't think this has been done before in any radio..
i wonder if the 12z will have that feature too,, and I also wonder if it can be updated too ! anyone has any idea?

Delete the old update files and the update directory off your card then unzip the new update onto the card just to be safe.

Any one know if there are any patent or legal type reasons that the 14 cannot be made to work with a JR PCM, or is it just technical?

Probably technical. Each has its own proprietary method of encoding the data. I am not sure that the radio could even be configured to do both. It would be cool, but since I only run Futaba RXs I would not use the feature.
It might make it easier for a JR guy to come over to Futaba and for that they might want to consider it.

Do I have to update to the last version (Ver 1.05/1.13) before installing the current (Ver 1.010 / 1.30) update

No, you simply install the latest and that takes care of everything.

after updating, why i dont see the "Standard PPM" and "8ch PPM"
But i check the Editor Version 1.0.10 (1.0.10.1667), Encoder Version 1.30 is all correct.

If Futaba can add the ability to run a JR PCM RX there are a lot of JR fliers out there that don't want to replace bunches of expensive receivers that would get the new Futaba 12 or 14 TX.
It can't be that hard to look at the transmitted signal and figure out how to duplicate it.
There has to be some legal reason for not doing it.

The same thing happened to mine, I have Asia region are you the same? The read out said for USA and Europe only so they might filter out Asia region. Can someone else confirm this?
Thanks

but why do they want to filter out the Asia region ? and how do i check whether is it a asia radio or US radio ?
But we all got the same radio, w all are human. Not like huamn and alian. why do futaba want to do like that ? :(

I may be wrong. But I believe it says on one of the screens what region the radio was manufactured to be used.

On the linkage menu, under the frequency tab, the field called "area" will tell you the region code for the radio
