Finally after 5 months my new baby is in the air.

My Len Mount Rotorway Exec
All it needs now is the cockpit and Len says its on its way.
The problems have all stemmed from trying to modify the Vario Xtreme mechanics to be the way I wanted them, not in the cockpit area. This is how they ended up.

The little dangly wires are from the DX6 Rx. This thing flies so nice, I am delighted with it. If I dont crash it, it should be at CG. I may be able to get flying video done

What setup?
I see the Actro 32-4 and a Jazz 55-10-32. So you have a 10s lipo?

I also see a 3s Thunder Power LiPo on the port side. Does that mean you're using it with switching regulator to run the on-board electronics?

Right now I am running a 10s2p 5AH pack. Its all I have which will fit in the fuse and until I get the cockpit in there I dont know how much more room I will have. The 3s pack on the side is a 2s going through a duralite regulator which is on top of the speed controller.
It weighs in at about 14lbs, Jack. Not too bad considering
Another beauty, Peter.
Great work getting all the mechanics aft of the cockpit like that. Were you forced to use any ballast up front?

Check out hte Duralite EVO 20 5s1p 3700 packs. Super light and gobs of power. Relatively small as well.

There is a 100 Stanley knife blades up front with 1/2lb of lead<G>
When the cockpit is in I will be able to ballast it up properly. Right now, any old weight will do for hovering checks. It will probably need about 1lb altogether. Thats the price you pay for having no mechanics up there.

Yes, but the freedom you have in the cockpit area appears to be well worth it.
Are you going to bring it up to Jacksonville?

Peter you don't like fiberglass helicopters? What do you do carve them out of a solid block of wood? You've got an awefully big fleet to not like fiberglass!

Yes, but if you look at them, most of them have metal tailbooms of one sort or another. Working in fiberglass brings me out in a very itchy rash and in the Florida heat, its not fun. So, I try and avoid fiberglass as much as possible, and I have the pool cover off and the pool heated ready to jump into s soon as I finish :glasses2:
