How can I replace this gear? On T/R output shaft, seem to be easy. But on other shaft, don't know how.

Crashed Extreme last week with closed tail. And crashed other Extreme with open tail today. Seem to be more money to repair with the open tail gear, isn't it? I guess my Stratus will be closed tail.

Send it to MinAir and they will replace it, new gears and shaft for $35.

Setting correctly your backlash would be the way to go insted of buying a closed one..

It's easy to change. There are two set screws on the part that sticks into the tail boom. Loosen those. These are the screws that are used to set the backlash. Remove the tail rotor shaft and from the front (the part that sticks into the tailboom) push the shaft as far rearward as possible. This will allow access to the roll pin that secures the gear. Using a proper size punch or if you don't have one a broken drill bit will do press out the roll pin. Install the new gear and roll pin. Insert the shaft with the new gear into the bearing/spacer assembly and push it as far forward as possible. This will make it easier to install the output shaft and gears. Once the unit is assembled set the backlash but pushing on the end of the input shaft until there is no backlash. Now tighten the setscrews that secure the input shaft. You're done.

The input gear is 123-83 and it come with the roll pin. The output gear is 123-92 and it comes with set screws.
