Flew 3 tanks just hovering and forward flight and when I started up for tank 4 it just sat there. Engine is running and I havent had any hot starts or other clutch problems. I took it up to about half stick and the blades never moved. I took the engine out and theres still alot of clutch liner and no obvious damage to the clutch.

Is this the one way bearing failed or what else do I need to look at?

Sure it wasn't running backwards?

DOH!

Uh no, I never thought of that.

Now that you mention it it may have sounded funny. I'll put it back together and start it again and see before I order parts.

Mine started backwards the other day. OS50 sxh.

The only real problem was the blades getting smacked in the grips, when I throttled down and back up the engine belched and started running the right way at half throttle, and the governor kicked in. Was scary.

Good call Barracuda!

I assume it was running backwards. I got home yesterday and reassembled and it fired right up and hovered like it always has. Probably ran better as I noticed some residue where the muffler had a pinhole leak.

When they run backwards do they intake through the muffler and exhaust through the carb?

I'm not a motorhead and its hard to get my brain wrapped around that.

No the crank shaft just spins the other direction. No harm done, some of the plank guys mod one to run that way in a twin so it counters the torque.

Running backwards is usually a sign that your low end needle is too rich, try the pinch test, pinch the line while its idling and start counting, any more than 3 or 4 seconds before it starts speeding up and quitting and its too rich, if it quits at less than 3 its too lean but it definately sounds too rich if its starting backwards.

Man, you know your motors. I've been tweaking around on the low end a bit now thats its warmed up. It was sputtering at half stick so I was trying to back it off a little. My plank compadres told me to turn it 2 turns. My reply to them was dont EVER touch my carb. hehe.
