I am trying to setup my Trex 500 with a JR 770 gyro and a 12X. I have the gyro set to aux 2 and have position 1 set to "T" tail lock and 65%. I have position 2 set to "N" normal or rate mode but I am confused about what rate to use. The gyro instructions say to use 51%-100% as tail lock mode and 49%-0% as rate mode. Since I set the position switch to rate mode do I still have to use a rate of 49%-0% to stay in rate mode?? This is all new to me since I have not flown a heli in about 20+ years, I can't just fly it and tell the difference yet.
Thanks!!

I cannot answer your question directly as I do not have a 12x at hand.

But...

You can figure this out by looking at the servo monitor screen. Look at Aux2 as you move the switch. Positions to the right of center are HH and left of center are Rate. For both, further from center is more gain.

The gyro instructions do not explain setup for the 12X they are explaining it using how the DX7 or X9303 work. Those radios do not have a H lock mode and a N normal mode. On those radios everything above 50 in the gyro menu is heading lock mode and below 50 is rate mode.

So if you want to mimic those radios in your 12X do not turn on T.lock. Leave it off so you don't get to choose a T or an N in front of each gain number. Leaving the top setting to NORMAL makes the gain number work just like on a 9303 or DX7. Now the gain number you put in from the 770 manual will work as described.

Thanks Finless... I appreciate your help and the videos you made. Helped me a great deal. Things have changed just a bit since my last heli - Kalt Baron 20 around 1988 :)
