frame breakage

hi fellas smashed the 550 on sunday due to lost concerntration of a young jogger passing thru the park broke both sides of the frame where it meets the base of the skids could this be fixed with a resin stile glue or should i rebuild and if so are their upgraded frames available thanx for the advice

Which frame and how bad is the damage ? Any chance of a picture ? Ibroke off the little tabs that hold the skids on, and have just drilled another hole in the "floor" of the frame instead.

thanx for your response mikej thats what i broke the 2 tabs at the front one on each side thinking about araldite two pack or new frame dont really want a crappy heli all glued up only new at this i suppose its just a matter of tacking it of the old frame and just putting it on the new one is that the case thanx

as long as your flying i suppose it really does nt matter if you bodge thanks for your help i will use your idea and glue it as well

People use zip ties instead of the nuts / bolts to attach the skids to the frame. The theory is that those will break before the frame.

here is a reapir in a heli mag...showing the use of a small right angle bracket....

I have also just drilled a screw hole in the bottom and reattached....

You could also drill a couple of holes in the side frame where the tab was a nd attach with Zip ties....

Don't buy new frames just for a couple of tabs broken.....save the money for when you really crash it and need the frame......or else buy the frame and keep it as a spare till needed...

or just do like Xodarap.... he uses a poly cutting board to fabricate his own frame pieces
