sokal, whats the max + and - pitch you can achieve with that head your using? and how much clearance is there or is that not an issue any more?

about 14 is pushing it but 11 will be the most anyone will need
im going to set this one up with 10

cyclic deflection will be around 7 or so may go to 6 just for the guy its for then let hime increase

Is 7 degrees maximum for cyclic?

I guess it's around 14 degrees on this head.

I think 7 degrees is just the way he's setting it up.

i think the rex style head can achive more cyclic deflection but u will be adding to tootal pitch.

ie +10/-10 with 7 deflection will be +17/-17 in total witch i think will be a bit of a strain on the motor

but yes the rexstyle head can do more

ok so i installed the sonix 3500kv motor in a close to stock bird (see sig)
it has a nice sound to it and run nice

I put the same motor in my 400, with the 13T pinion, I may drop to a 12. It sure sucks the juice from the battery. what sort of flight times are you getting? I get about 3 1/2 minutes running full tilt idle up. This is with new 25C 2200mah Zippy and a 40A Turnigy ESC.

I absolutely love the sound, it just sings, and power, whew! amazing... It actually spun the metal piece that the one way bearing presses into on the main gear. I was doing some hard punches, and suddenly it just started spinning without turning the rotors... melted the plastic around the middle. Hoping it was a faulty gear...

Turns out I'm now convinced that the one way bearing is at fault. It melted another one this morning, so I think the bearing is getting too hot, it probably had no grease left in it, and would slip a bit, causing it to heat up and melt the plastic of the gear.

I popped a new bearing in another gear and will give it a shot at lunch time.

cool
sorry for the mishap. id recomend if using the stock head not to run a 100%
as if u run 100% rotor rpm will be around 3200.

80-90% will probly be good. wich will give u 2800-2900

Yeah, good idea, I noticed this morning that the SeeSaw arm is loose, the mount points are broken... yikes... I'll dial it down a bit... thanks...

Hey sokal is this 397t drive belt a solution to the jumping and did you have to change the tail boom to align or are you using the stock boom. Im going to order a mavrikk belt but want to see about the boom. Also I had to file the motor mount to slide it back some for the sonix motor and 13t to get a good mesh. Should be flying her once I get the belt problem fixed since its ready to go.

The rex 450 canopy mounts fit perfectly in the stock location.

Absolutely. Not touching at all I did have to trim the sevo arm because the aluminum elevator arm was binding against it but lost a little travel so may go back and see what adjustments I can do

no worries he had to leave for training because he is going to afghanistan. i am a very good friend of his and he has passed it off to me. its almost done, all i need to do is program your esc and setup the head. i could have it to you by the end of the week if you want to test fly it yourself
