I'm just wondering what kind of repair costs that the Stratus flyers have forked over for crashes from mild to miserable? You don't have to be super specific, but what you broke and how much it cost to repair is what I'm asking for on this subject.
I've owned MA Heli's in the past and part costs and count were always a problem. I have a new Stratus that I'm just curious about what everyone fllying one of these has been up against. I'm more interested in MA parts not so much the Engine and blades as that is user dependant, but within $10-$20.
Thanks

I planted mine twice. All of the typical suff broke. One thing to note that I had to replace both times were the bearings in the new flybar carrier. They get notchy even after the slightest jar.

I know this is a morbid question to ask, but I'm just curious about this issue.
Scrub....how did the frames hold out?

The Left side frame did break just above the front/upper servo. It's a rather weak area of the frame but not necessary. I haven't repalce the frame and I've been flying with it broken for dozens of flights.

That's what I was wondering about on the frames. If you look at the frames directly from the side...from the fan downwards there is very little support other than the crossmembers. That may be enough, but it just looks much weaker than the top.

I guess from the lack of posting on this subject either pilots are scared to talk about their past crashes :dontknow
Or
THE STRATUS IS SO CHEAP TO FIX THAT IT IS NOT EVEN WORTH MENTIONING

I have had a mild and a medium crash with the Stratus and can report on both occasions the frames stood up well.
The first crash (medium) set me back about $200 excluding blades. The main area of damage was the tail although I replaced the head axle, mainshaft, flybar and a few links.
The second crash I was hovering inverted about 6 inches above the ground and had total brain fade and pushed instead of pulling back on the stick :arggg: the heli went straight in but I walked away with a bent flybar and little else, even the blades wewre ususable although alittle battered.
If you want to find out the cost of a major crash speak to Freddy Ferris who seems to destroy just about every moving part and pretty much all the non moving parts when he stuffs it in

Crash costs and "pucker" was the reason I sold my Stratus. It is an awesome machine ... and if you build one, you can understand and justify the cost. Excellent engineering and no one who has flown one or seen one fly can deny that this machine rocks.
That being said. I sold it and bought an EVO 90. I put a new non-pumped .91SZ in it and really enjoy flying it. It barely cost more that a .50 to crash (really the difference is blade cost). Hopefully my flying will improve this season to the point where I can feel comfy with another Stratus or Avant :D
