Had one of those days yesterday - hit the high idle on ground while I was holding the blades and burnt up the clutch liner - nice move, right!!!
Do anyone have a good suggestion for removing the remaining portion of the clutch liner in the bell - I can seem to get the rest out - so, I can glue in the new liner
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

You can soak it in alchohol (rubbing) or MEK overnite to remove the glue residue, the liner will follow.

Or send it to Lamebird so he can nibble it out with those sharp teeth.

well, the liner came off via the rubbing alcohol solution - so, I guess no need to send to Lamebird to to nibble off,
Thanks again for your suggestion,

Just thought of something to add.. if you submerged the entire assembly, it would be a good idea to make sure the locktite on the pinion is still secure. Usually they hold, but it's worth checking..

thanks, will do - I put the new clutch liner in - I had to cut it down a bit (length) to get it to fit in the round - but there is now a slight gap where the two ends of the clutch liner meet - I don't think that will be an issue, as the clutch can still grap most of the liner -the gap is about 2mm - I don't see it as a problem, maybe will wear a little faster.

Thats pretty typical. I used to try and cut them on a bias (diagonal) so that any gap would be bridged by a larger area of the clutch.. Now its just too damn much work, glue it and go.

I did the same thing on my FAI machine Saturday. I was practicing some of the contest flying and was doing autos. I had my hold set a little low and the motor died and when I went to restart I turned off hold but not idle up. Only took a couple seconds to smoke the liner.
