Whats the best way to install the Z-RC carb insulator on a Spectra-G

Do you still need to use the Carbon plate?

Does it go:
Insulator
Teflon Gasket
Carbon Plate
Carb Gasket
Carb

Or do you leave the plate out and go:
Insulator
Teflon Gasket
Carb

Or is there another way?

Leave the carbon plate out . The teflon gaskets are insulator enough.

Hi Guys,
With regard to this alu insulator, I also have one on my motor but still had the carbon plate and paper gaskets in place so I removed them as stated above and in the instructions and the throttle linkage hits the fan shroud now. Is there somthing I am missing? or are you doing somthing different with the throttle linkage after removing the cabon plate and gaskets.

Thanks

Glen

I left them in mine.. too lazy to cut the bolts shorter !!!!

You CAN leave the carbon plate and gaskets. However if you develop a leak you know where to look. My linkage fits fine. I don't remember if I trimmed up the horn or not..............

My linkage does not hit the fan shroud.

Peter, i originally used the carbon plate and stock gasket. After reading the advice here i removed the carbon plate and checked the bolt length as per the instructions. I was surprised to see that the bolts were pushing into the teflon gasket even with the carbon plate installed.

So, even with the carbon plate, the bolts are a couple of mm too long. I cut about 5-6mm off with a hacksaw. The bolts are soft and easy to cut.

Yep , I did cut the bolts off initially , when I checked the setup over; I bought the heli 2nd hand ..
I was just too lazy to cut em a 2nd time when I fitted the insulator .. they'll be cut and the carbon plate removed by next weekend though ......

It does seem a LOT silly , upon reflection , to leave that source of air leak there after fitting that brilliant insulator.....
