You fly around for a couple more seconds until RealFlight automatically resets the aircraft because something broke on it.Or just hit the little red button.

He he. I was actually able to land on the one good, remaining skid, heli leaning. It looked like G3 was going to let me get away without breaking anything else, but then as the rotor was spinning down, SNAP!

Is it possible to do an inverted landing without breaking something?

uh no..
won't happen in real life either..

There was a video a while back of someone landing inverted with no damage. If I remember right they picked it up, checked it over, set it down, and took off again...

If you could get the rotor RPM down pretty low you might be able to land inverted in G3.

FWIW I have witnessed Eric Larson break the tail blades off his stratus while in the inverted portion of a piro flip, auto the machine inverted, check it over and replace tail blades and fly out another gallon or so the same day.
I have never seen anything else like it.... no damage other than the tail blades!

Funny you should ask, Eric did that exact same thing at the fun fly portion of the Taiwan competition. He was making the crowd sweat when he came in a little low and dug some dirt with his skids. Those carbon fiber skids are brittle and he broke one side clean off. He paused for a second to see if anything else was damaged and then just kept going for a while.

He ended with an auto into a grass area, instead of the concrete runway, and held it as long as possible before letting it tip over. The blades hit the dirt a couple times and no damage done.

He cleaned the dirt off the blades and put on a new landing gear side and was off and running the next round. :glasses2:

We actually had that exact thing happen at our field one day, guy flying landed hard, and bounced back into the air, with one skid off, it was a scale Robbe Moskito R22, so he really did not want to crash it.

Another, more experanced, pilot took the controls and landed it with the broken side resting on some pieces of wood that "someone  " had placed on the landing strip. Heli was in one piece, except for the u/c. :D

Hit the "RED" reset button on the transmitter and start the flight over?

Hey, now that board idea is a good one! I will have to remember that!

Hitting reset is never an option with me, until there are pieces skattered on the ground!

If you go into the settings menu in g3 and set your delay to 0 you can break alot of stuff off your heli and still keep flying (or try to keep flying). I like this feature because it won't reset you with a new heli every time you have a minor crash. Plus it's fun to try to land with one skid (at least on the sim). :)

Yeah, I turned the auto reset off the first day I got it. Been flying with minor damage plenty of times - bent fly bars, no tail rotor, broken skids. I've even managed to break stabilizers off planes, tail wings, ect. Sometimes it's just hilarious! Never stop flying! Not until the pieces are scattered all over the place!

In that situation I typically have one of my people catch it by the good skid.
