i started my raptor 50 today for the first time it has a OS50 Hyper it started fine then stalled i reprimed it fired it up again and it locked up upon inspection i found that the fan bolt slipped now i did not use red lock tite i used blue. My question is when i reinstall do i put the washer on between the fan housing and the bolt?? because i did do this the first time and i thought i read somewhere that you do not need a washer

No, don't use the washer. With the washer in place the clutch will be too high and possibly cut into the junction of the top and sides of the bell causing a clutch bell failure. I've seen this happen more than once. Actually, if you get the nut tight enough no thread lock is required, but blue is more than sufficient. Red will require heat to remove and possibly ruin the fan. The fan nut must be really tight. you must lock the crankshaft and use at least a 6" ratchet. The combo wrench for tightening propeller nuts just won't do. To lock the crank, remove the carb. and stick a plastic toothbrush handle into the crank or better yet get one of these.

Honest, if you get the nut tight enough it will stay on.

If you don't get the fan tight, no matter how tight you torque the nut it will spit the fan off when it floods.

I use two old clutch bolts in the fan then tighten it with a screw driver, just don't go over board.

Also clean the threads and let the locktite cure 24 hours.

I used to have problems getting the fan nut tight if I held the fan to tighten the nut.
You want to lock the crank as stated above to tighten the fan AND to tighten the nut!

Ok i may have done this wrong does the fan hosuing itself need to be very tight to? i just hand tighten the fan and then cranked down on the nut i havent started it up yet and if this is the case i will pulll it apart and correct this before i do start it up.

Like I said, if you don't get the fan tight you're going to end up spitting it off again the first time it sputters.

NO WASHER

Get the fan tight before you even look at the nut, to do this put a couple of spare M3 bolts into two of the clutch mounting holes and screw down as far as they will go. Put a little blue loctite in the engine crankshaft, and screw the fan onto it, when it starts getting tight, place a screwdriver shaft (or something like it) between the two bolts, and use that for leaverage. I also recommend the OS engine locking tool, I got fed up chewing up the end of my toothbrush and the taste of burnt oil.

Now blue Loctite the nut, and tighten down, remove the leverage bolts, and inset the clutch.

I've never had a fan come loose, and you can use the same technique in reverse to remove it, even without heating

The wifes toothbrush works best.
