I'm sure this has come up before... but, should I hard or soft mount the RX on my stratus? I know the MA manual says to hard mount it with double stick tape, and it doesn't scare me too much, but I still feel a bit strange about how the vibrations are going to affect it.

Hard mount with double sided tape? Not really if you use three or four layers with a velcro 'seatbelt' for added security.
it will still stay on, and extra layers will isolate the reciever..granted not quite as well as foam padding, but how would you attach the foam to the frames? By making the velcro tighter, you just reduced the effectiveness of the foam..

Use the double sided vinyl foam tape that is 1/4 inch thick. 3M Products part number 4408. This the black foam tape that MA and Ace sell in 3 foot rolls. It will provide the receiver plenty of protection from vibrations.
I would not recommend mounting the receiver so that it has no protection from vibration.

I use that Green "Zeal Gel" to mount all my electronics (except gyro sensor) and then wrap with, as Lamebird called it, a Velcro seatbelt. The Zeal Gel sticks like crazy, is about 1/4" thick...has always worked great for me...been using it for probably 12 years or so...
I would think that David's tape would be much cheaper though...the Zeal stuff comes in about a 2" x 6" sheet for around $13...

I have received about 4 or 5 PM's asking where to buy the Green Zeal Gel sheets...as Tower no longer carries it...
I just called Chris Bergen at Bergen R/C as I know he carries it...he says he has plenty...just call him at 269-445-2060 and he will get you out some...

Mount your gear on foam tape as David listed. Clean, vibration protected, and it is easy to do. Use velcro seat belts as was listed above.

I have been using the tape David mentioned above and haven't had any problems. The CSM tape works good on the gyro sensor. I wrap a pc of velcro around the sensor but everything else is just stuck down with the tape. Been lucky doing it that way so far.

You deffinetly need to use some foam when mounting the receiver, i have a mate in perth that saw the consiquences of not using any foam, as his receiver/crystal died from vibrations
