The ones I have I've started the first tank at 2 turns on the main needle and the low set at whatever point it idles okay. After the first tank I start leaning it down to where I get it to just barely flutter at full head speed. After that it's just a tweak here and there to get it right. As for final needle settings, I don't think that's something that is a cookie cutter type number. What's right on my engine in my climate with the way I fly might be totally wrong for your engine. The best method is to listen to what the motor is telling you.

Flutter is also referred to as 4 stroking. It's where the motor has just a slight amount more fuel than it can completely burn but it's power robbing. I look at it as more of a little bit of a buffer in case something fails.

No there is no cookie cutter number of clicks. I am a big believer in a tank of hover, cool down till cold, tank of hover, let cool, lean out a tad and go easy on the throttle.

I meant to say in my previous post that the slight amount of flutter is "not" power robbing.
