will it run any better? any more power?
DavidH

Yes the motor will run better. Don't think the power increase will be noticeable.
If you want more power send the 60K carb to James at OMI and let him work his magic on it.

should i add a xtra headgasket with the viper head or just use one

You should use 0.016 in head shims. The stock shim that comes with the motor is 0.008.
The viper head will come with another 0.008 shim. So the shim that comes with the viper head needs to added to the stock shim for a total of 0.016. That is if your using Cool Power or Powermaster 30% fuel. If your using Magnum 30% you will need 0.020 to 0.024 total in shims.

I'm not sure I understand the need to use the extra shimming if running Magnum 30. What's the reason for that?

The Magnum 30% has something in it that changes the flash point . Everyone I have seen that uses the Magnum 30% has to use more shimming than they would with any other 30%. James at OMI tells people that are using Magnum 30% to add more shims than normally would be use.

Does the C-Spec not produce enough power or is it that folks are always on the search for more power.

Thanks for the explanation David.
Dan, I think we all get a little caught up in these forums when a "new" engine hits the market. I've got both the C-Spec and the SZ's with OMI carbs and mods and I don't have enough talent to tell the difference power wise between the two. My C-Specs seem to have slightly more run time on the same amount of fuel though. That I did notice.

Just found it odd. Now, in the RC "car world" people are always trying different heads and things so they can run the motor a bit harder and still cool it.
I have never seen as much modding and shimming in the heli world since a large fan sits over the top of the motor. Just thought I was missing out on something like "the C-Spec is crap unless it has a Viper head. That is why Youngblood runs it like that".

To be totally honest, I have been running the 2 shims that come with the Viperhead on all my engines except for the YS's. The reason I have been running Viperheads on all of my OS motors is simple. I fly MA helis, and a round head won't fit in the shroud without cutting the hell out of it. The flat sides of the Viperhead is a perfect fit. The YS 91's have the flat sides already so I haven't even been changing those.

are they different styles? the viperhead i getting from a friend is round!! he told me it was for a 90 sized engine.

Nope there is only one OMI Viperhead. They are all the same shape. The ones for YS engines are black. The ones for the OS that is dual plug is Blue, the single plug OS is red.
Dual Plug OS Viperhead.

There is another dual plug head for OS 91 Engine. It is made by a company called Bellwood. It may be round. if I remember they are green in color or red. Cyber heli sells the Bellwood Head.
The Viper Head is the one you want. It will look like the one if the picture link above. It will have OMI Viperhead etched on the side of the head.

To clarify; It's the old OS 90 style head from about 3 years ago. It's one of Kam Wyatts old ones. I have the head that Collective wants as well as the black C-spec engine. It may not be the Viper but another brand but it's SEVERAL years old and it's blue in color. ;)
BTW .. Allen, The engine is the same price with or without the head. I'm just throwing it in as well as the 6mm hex adapter as I said in the email.

Hey Allen, Where did we put the head before you left. I looked around for it but no luck seeing it. If I/we can find it I'll take a picture to post of it and see if anyone here can identify it better. :D
