Confirm Engine

Is there a way to confirm if an engine is a mod 1 upgraded engine? I'm assuming serialization would be recorded? How would I confirm an engine has the mod 1 upgrade if I was buying one used?

Look at the head beside where the plug screws in. There should be something engraved there.

Fan shroud was a little bit of a beast and I didn't really feel like taking it apart. I was able to see under the shroud though. TRM and some numbers are there. I'm assuming that means it's affirmative.
