i have been using sab 710 (180 gram ) blade for many year . i want to try different blade. the v balde seem to heavy and bog my engine very good ..( because it heavy and wider ) i dont know about a new v blade it maybe better.
please recommend for me new brand of blade that you think can do 3D good and fast respond.
thank you for reading my post

I don't know why the V blade would bog your engine any more than any other blade. There is many pilots using the VBlades on there Stratus with 8.18 ratios. Henry Caldwell, Clint Akins, and a good many more are using V blades. They can do 3D with a good and fast response.
If your engine is bogging. It is not due to the V Blades.

I agree with David here. The V's are great 3D blades. A couple of things you might look at are of course, tuning and probably the most critical behind tuning is collective management. A lot of guys will feel they have an engine problem or blade problem when in fact their collective timing may be off just enough to load the engine too hard. Just something to think about. But V-Blades are really good and also the Radix.

I am obviously biased toward V-Blades, but I agree with David and Gary. If you are bogging, then you have either:
- Too much collective pitch
- Too much cyclic pitch
- Your engine is not properly tuned
- Your head speed is not set for the correct gear ratio / engine power band
- Your are adding too much pitch by combining collective and cyclic abruptly
- A combination of all of the above.
Check your pitch ranges, pitch tolerances are determined based on your motor and collective management skills, i.e. if you run a YS motor and your collective management skills are not that great, then you shouldn't run more than +/- 10 degrees of collective and +/- 5 degrees of cyclic. If your collective management is strong and you have a powerful motor, such an O.S. .91 SZH, you could get away with running upwards of +/- 12 collective and +/- 8 cyclic.

isnt the 8.18 ratio for an OS engine? maybe that has somthing to do with it

Angus,
Your correct. The YS should be run on 8.36 or 8.45 if you want to fly the model 3D style. I didn't even notice the YS in the header, but I did see the 8.18. <G>
The YS will run great on 8.18 as long as you don't want to do continous flips or rolls. I used 8.18 when using the YS 91 in F3C competition and it worked great. But if I tried to 3D fly the model and string several flips together. The motor would usually load up heavy after about the third flip.

I also missed the YS and the 8.18 in the subject. This is not the right combo for 3D like David said, you will bog every time you try to change directions abruptly, which is the case with rainbows, tic-tocs, etc. I know so because I have tried it before ;)
I suggest you change your ratio to 8.45. The YS motor runs best with 8.45 and a head speed of 1750 - 1780 for 3D.

thank you info guys.
i did not know is ys run great on ratio 8:36 or 8:45...
i alway like highter head speed...seem like fast response ..

Higher head speed doesn't necessarily translate into more power. Yes, it will give you a faster cyclic, but you can always speed up the cyclic by increasing the swash movement.
I have flown YS 91 engines with all three gear ratios on a Stratus as well as on a Tempest with a Tempest 3D head. So far, I prefer the 8.45 for 3D. The 8.36 gear ratio performs well for milder 3D (hurricanes, funnels, big loops). For real aggressive 3D I suggest using 8.45. You'll feel the difference right-away when switching from 8.36 to 8.45 :)
Good luck!
