I was leafing through the pages of 'The other site' and saw this post in response to somebody questioning why their tail was not holding with a 601 gyro
"When you set the tail up, make sure the blades are in-line with each other..Don't set the 601 up like you would with a 401 or any other gyro..the 601 does NOT need any off set when you set it up."
the full post is here....

I always set up my tail with offset at neutral so why would the 601 be different?

Well I will call that one BS. I have always set up the Fury series with all the linkage at 90 deg geometry. The MA tail rotor systems are set up so that the blades have about 10 degs offset when all the linkage is in neutral position. If you put the blades at 0 pitch, the pitch arm is not going to be centered and will have more throw one way than the other. Then the limits on the gyro will be set different on each side. If they are not set different, then the pitch slider is going to bind in one direction.
If you notice in this picture, you can not even see the pitch arm. It should be visible at the edge of the gear box if it was in the neutral position.

The correct way to setup the tail is have all the angles at 90 degs.
I get the Servo and bellcrank set to 90 degs. Then I hover the heli in normal mode gyro and make final adjustment to the tail rotor so that it will hover straight ahead. Once that is complete I set the model down and flip the switch back and forth three times to have the same neutral in both AVCS and Normal mode. That is how it is explained in the instructions.
