These guys gave me a ton of help in sorting out my Neu Ion - flew 4 flights today and it ROCKED!
Main issues...
1. defective deans connector (new) on ESC - replaced.
2. Lipos needed a few cycles to wake up from winter hibernation
This was exactly what I was hoping for when I replaced the stock Hacker with the Neu - it pulls as hard or maybe a tad harder than the Actro on 10s, but the headspeed is noticeably more consistent under load.
The Neu + the CC HV-110 is a killer combo - looks like it will be my new favorite :). Now I've got to get some of those lightweight lipo packs you guys have been flying :).
Thanks again guys,
- Rob

Had any more time to fly it Rob? You still running Airplane mode? My governor mode still has the headspeed at 2030 at 75% curve, so not sure what is up with that yet. May go back to Air and let her fly.
B's NEU powered Ion's ROCK Steady.

Would a CSEPHX85HV work okay in this application. 110HV's are not available, but I have a an 85HV. Speciafically getting a 12s setup from ChrisS, and want to use the ESC in that?

Hey Jon how have you been??
Yes the 85 will work great as i iam still running the Hacker 77-o-H

Great Bobby, thanks for asking.
Thought that was true about the 85HV, just everyone is talking about the 110HV on here.
Been dying to get a 12s set-up, ChrisS convinced me he had a set-up today with the Neu motor, gonna give it a try.
Thanks - jon

He told me the Neu 1521/1.5 with the 24t layshaft gear.
What do you think?

Interesting it might work along wiht the thicker motor mount.

Oh well, I am willing to be a guines pig on this ;)
bob00 - sorry for hijacking your thread ;)

go guinea pig, go!! If you volunteer to put some test time in on the 12S setup then I forgive you for hijacking the thread :D
Will, I'm still running airplane mode - the governor surged too much for my liking, plus I like the quick spool-up with no soft start. Headspeed with the Neu is nice and consistent with the straight line 3D curve - don't miss governor mode at all.
Ran my Actro on airplane mode all last season too - the response almost like flying nitro - I like :).
Ready to order the EVO packs, just want a clear answer on the balancing tap connector first.

I to MUCH prefer Air mode to GOV mode. I can warn you in advance with the 2-stage NEU setup and a G3 RX with a CC110 in AIR mode, and the HOT EVO packs, you may go through some secondary gears.
Balancer Tap question? You mean if an adapter is being made to run the TP-1010 chargers withthe EVO packs and TP balancer? Hope to get one soon myself.

The balancer plug is in the works i will call today and see how much longer
The 12s testing i have done was done wiht both gov mode and aero mode
and the 32-3 worked the best in gov mode and the neu the aero mode.
Rob i found wiht the G3 rx it seems to pulse the Esc almost like the esc cant handle the fast resolution.I also noticed my flight times were down by a couple minutes and batterys were getting warmer quicker. I noticed this on the Hacker and the CC controller
So i went back to 319rx and havent had a problem
I agree go for it Jon cant wait to see how it works hopefully better luck them everything i have done

Will,
Yes, I want to charge the EVO's with my 1010's and TP balancers. I've got TP parts to make adapters, but don't know what the connector that mates with the EVO plug looks like or if it's commercially available.
AIR mode rocks - I'm running the thick motor mount and a 50T double gear and I'm using the lower motor support ring - hope this setup won't strip.
Did yours strip on spool-up or while switching modes?
I dialed in a delay value of 20 on the throttle channel when switching modes to make going from NORM to IDLEUP a smoother - takes about 1.5s for the motor to get to speed instead of the violent jolt. Gotta love the 14mz :) - it also does this coming out of throttle hold but I don't want to test this just yet - maybe at the end of the last flight at IRCHA :D.

Bobby - looking forward to an answer - you guys have got me hyped, I've got to try these packs now.
Interesting notes on the G3 Rx / ESC issue. My CC HV's seem to work ok, but the Hacker's seems got some problems
"the neu the aero mode" - like the sound of that. Is the Neu being used in the 12S tests the same one we've been flying on 10S?

Another thing Bobby - could you please ask Duralite if they think the EVO's can be charged at 2C or above with the 1010C.
Thanks,

However... I guess their new batteries can be charged at an even higher C rating

30 C continues, 50C burst.

Wow - 30C / 50C - thanks Laurens, now the question is "when"?
Yeah Bobby, I saw that - that 12S setup was kicking - looks like you already had the double gear, don't tell me it didn't hold.

Endcap came off the NEU motor.
Where the setup was hard on the double gears was when you flew the heli very hard and the motor could flex on the carbon mount. Bobby thinks the thick mount fixed this issue and so far his has been fine. My 2 stage Ion-X needs only a new tail box and the 3 stage layshaft and blocks. Got a 48T Double gear and teh thick motor mount already installed.

Thats 30C continuous discharge for the new cells. Not charge...
It's almost impossible to charge 10s 4AH packs at 2C. Love to find a charger that that will do that at 8A (2C of 4AH capactity cells), but that would be a BIG charger with a lot of watt output...
