I grabbed onto the side and said "pull me in dude I got no fins". From that day on (about 1994) he and all my scuba buddies called me "Finless". I have used that handle ever since.
<<

Nice try Finless. But kgfly and I have posted the true storie(s) to how you got your handle right here (take your pick)

Ha Rick... I liked The Knack thing.....

You guys and your finn stories....

I think I will let you make them up for awhile but as you see in your quotes I did tell the story in this thread as you used one ;)

Well I know "your version" of the story from the old days on the other forum. But I'll continue to promote my versions until one sticks!

So far I think I've got 5 or so in which "fin" has nothing to do with fish, scuba, or flying things (as I know you'd want it). Fin has been a word in french, a TV character, a $5 bill... We can keep going!

Hello all
First off welcome to Bob. I'm brand new to this site and fairly new to RC Helis. I've been involved with fixed wing stuff for years but never got into helis up until recently. Well needless to say I'm addicted. I just want to say to Bob that I think that what he's doing with the videos explaining everything about the heli's their setups and flight is AWESOME. I never had the oportunity to learn so much so quickly. The videos are GREAT. Thanks Bob
Cheers

I've pointed several flyers to this site, and helped few from what I've learned here. I'll burn the mpegs of Bob's to CD and offer it to them, few don't have online access. Sure made life easier.. :D

Howdy Bob,
Thanks for puttin out those videos, helps heaps.

It's good to know it's a hobby where good ol' fashion buddy system works to benefit everybody, from nooB to Pro..

Please if you may keep teaching this stuff, it accellerates the already steep learning curve, and more than likely has saved countless boo boo's and prangs..

Maybe more maintainence type vids, like what a stuffed main shaft bearing sounds like, or along those lines..

Cheers and thanks and all the best,

Firehorse.

I just want to thank you for your videos and all the info on the T-Rex. I just bought my 1st Trex - SA version and have been through the Blades and Walkeras and finally got the money to do it right.
Without your video's I would still be trying to figure the bird out or on its maiden flight I probably would have done some amazing, if not short, acrobatics, with a new hole in my yard and a TRex in more parts then when I bought it.
Thank you for the info and this is some Helicopter. :noteworthy

I just recently bought a 450SE. I would like to Thank you first Bob for the Videos. Very Help full and I am sure to watch them many more times thru the Build Process.
I have done some searching thru forums, on building mesurements of the Heli and I am not having to much luck. Or not many people have a digital calipers. I am interested in the mesurements of all the control linkages on your rotor and servos. Is there a common number as you repeat the build process. I have seen swashplate levelers which leads me to beileve that the mesurments are common. Which a simple MM ruler it is hard to get it right.

Hopeful someone could point me in the right direction in the forums some where I missed.
Thanks

Tom

Bob is absolutely the best , magnificent , valuable, and all that is great. I saw all his videos regarding setup of ccpm, pitch curve, transmitter programming, I just bought my first helicopter and the manual has nothing in it to help a newby like me, i combed the world wide web for info that can help me with setup ( my heli is one of those mx400 pro by heli-max) of the heli and the computer transmitters programs was foreign to me, i know now about the different curves, and what happens with the different features. I absolutely learn alot and i want to thank heli freak for this site, this is where i found finless videos, I've down loaded all that i could, these videos really helped, ALOTTTTTTT!!!! :noteworthy

Finless....

I must say I have read some of your reviews and watched alot of your build videos. You are the grand guru of Helicopters. :noteworthy Your work is priceless. I also have to add that you are the reason I just joined.

Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching more of your videos. I'm the proud owner of the HDX300...still building it and I'm waiting for my new HDX450 to arrive as well.

Thanks again.

Finless Just want to thank you for all the videos. Just got a Trex and started to build it but found I was in way over my head. Your videos are the best thing that I have found. With your help I'll be able to finish it. I really thank you.

Well Bob. Bundle them up and sell them. If you did this in Crayon and butcher paper it would be very valuable. I have been flying RC for many years. And moved to Maryland where there are very few places to fly. So I figured go with a nice quiet electric heli. I am ready and willing to dish out what it takes $$$ for those first few flights/crashes.

I am quite sure you have saved me many dollars with these video's. I have grown fond of your voice now. :) Not that way. You rock. I will be soloing next week at some point with my V2 and I am sure I have increased my chances at success after setting up my head after watching your ccpm video's. Boy it was WAY off.

If you ever sell a DVD I will buy it because I know it saved me money when it was free.

Thank you!

Hi guys, im flying a TREX 450SE and am suffering slight tail wag. Im running a GY401, and a HS56 on the tail. My local model shop tried talking me into putting a digital servo on it, has anyone got any thoughts / opinions on using one of these?

The servo I had in mind was a S9650.

Cheers in advance ! :bomb:
