I have been comparing these two helis for a little while now, and have a large group encouraging me to go with the Predator. Personal taste, The Spectra G is just a whole lot prettier, but I know thats only part of it.

What really concerns me is that there is almost ALWAYS a Spectra G in the classifieds with the owner looking to sell for a different heli.

Anyone have any encouraging fact about the Spectra over the Predator (besides the looks)?

I purchased a Spectra-G over the Predator :dontknow

Mine was a personal preference. I prefer MA designs over any other, it's cost that hurts. Century moves ahead in this area. Product support was a question, MA moved ahead here. I traded cost for design preference, support and personal likes (I think the canopy looks better, yeah, I know, it's trivial).

In the words of Tom Fiddler, "You can't buy a bad gasser these days".

i do have a bit of a problem with the Predators set-up as stock. There are like 15 things everyone I speak to says to change out while building instead of using the parts that come with.

Also, the chrome muffler issue they have (or had) with all the chrome chipping off really turned me away when they wouldnt take care of their customers and refund their money. I am in the rc anodizing and powdercoating business, and everyone was sending me their mufflers to powdercoat. Century said it was from abuse to some and a natural occirance to others.

I really dont think looks are trivial, I mean it is my hobby and enjoy making the heli look as good as possible, that's why I started custom-rc.com. No one wants to fly a duck....

Well the new V2 mufflers have taken care of the chrome issue (as far as I have seen)

Century customer service sucks
Century manuals suck
But... the helicopters fly awesome.

MA build awesome helicopters but Shannon Davis has been dealing with a glitch problem for as long as I have seen that Gasser fly. Maybe he can pop in here and speak more to that.

Only reps like Rodney and Bill Meador make having a Century a pleasure to fly.

DD is correct on everything. Pretty much the same information I had. I watched Shannon Davis' Spectra lock out a couple times, good thing fail safe is there ;)

I've heard other owners not having any problems with it, so there might be something specific with Shannon's setup/bird. Chasing gremlins can suck. I'd like to know what he's done so far to chase down that lock out so I can be better prepared with mine. I'm still in the build phase so I can't comment on it as it hasn't left the Earth of its own power yet.

Scott,

I'm partial to MA, but not only because that's all I fly. They have great customer service, and parts have always been easy to get. The only thing I've done different is run the Torpedo muffler since they are still working on a new pipe for the TRM 231.

Not sure about the glitch problem Dog is talking about with Shannon's. I have 3 Spectra's and I've never had a glitch problem with any of them.

I have a Fury and am very happy with it, but as Ive found in the past, just because a company makes a good nitro doesnt mean they make a good gas or electric (or accessories for that matter).

Looks like this may be a hard decision.
