I have a Bergen Gasser and twice now when I inverted it the engine has died I am running the 260 puh with a Bergen muffler. Amsoil 100/1 2 oz per gallon. 1750 headspeed and 710 MAH blades. Any input would be helpful. The heli runs fine but as soon as I flip it over the engine dies, It has done it twice now. Great for autos but a real pain.

Gary,

Start with the most obvious and work from there. Check your clunck and it's line. It could be split in the tank. Check all the rest of the fuel line plumbing and insure that your vent line is clear and wound into a "looped trap" so that the fuel doesn't come out inverted. Next, check the fuel inlet screen in the carb. Just carefully remove the center screw on the plate and remove the diaphragm, and look at the screen to make sure it is not full of stuff. It can be easiely removed and cleaned (use caution, it is somewhat easy to misshapen it).
If the motor is running normally otherwise, I would not suspect the needles as the motor is pumped and does not give a rip what position it is in.

One final thought!!!! Make sure that the kill wire (black one)and it's bullet are not skinned up or exposed!!! The kill wire can lay down upon metal parts and ground out the ignition while inverted.   For that matter the RED wire can short the ignition if it can get against the frame.

Hope this helps!!

Above the obvious make sure the engine is warm. My engine doesnt like going upstairs till its a little warm.

While I had the same problem you had a contamination in my fuel tank was my reason for practicing inverted autos. Needless to say the whole field system was cleaned out.

One more thing to try.
If running a gov.
Set the idle position in the gov to a higher than the real idle setting. I am using around 20-25% stick position.

What can happen is that you are going from full load and a high throttle setting to no load as you go thru 0° pitch so the gov slamms the throttle closed and then a split second later the neg pitch is in and the gov tries to get back to full throttle.

Some engines just do'nt like the full throttle swings. Especially if not fully warmed up and/or a little rich or lean.

That was about almost a year ago when this stall problem was occuring, It ended up being the carb. The engine had the infamous 677 carb. I went to the 643 and problem solved.

Yes it was a while ago.
However this issue seems to pop up every spring when a new batch of gassers hit the air.
