Hey guys,

I see you are talking about 13 and 15T pinions again. But i still have an unanswered question about the "slow down" gear (post halfway up this page. Not about the motor pinion, but about the main gear set)
I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
For now i'm extremly happy with my HDX. I put in the align 430L and the MH tail unit...Man my heli is allmost in "whisper" mode. It has more power and less noise right now.

As for flying right now.....typical dutch weather for this time of year. lots of hard wind, rain and dark already when coming home from work.
Only hoovering is becoming a challenge already with this kind of weather.

I landed the heli in a puddle of water 3 days ago. I was planning on landing but suddenly air was sucked away from under my heli in a gust of wind. so it went down fast. I landed but the motor was halfway under water...ooops. I cut the power as soon as possible. I left it drying since it happened...dont want to risk damaging the electronics.

So flying is no option haha. This makes it a good time to perform operation "steel ball's" since i'm reading a lot of good thing's about it in this forum.

cheers,
Maurice

Going to the Stainless Steel Balss was definatley a must...i also swapped out my Linkage ends at the same time and this made a huge difference.

Alright...i had blade tracking issues but thats now fixed...however the blade that was swinging high is now set to about -2 degrees pitch when the other is at 0 degrees of pitch...can someone please help me...is this normal or should i change it back to both being 0 degrees...i dont want the 2 degree difference to affect my flgith performance as i seemed to notice a slight change...but if i correct it for the blade tracking issue it is truly set -2 degrees instead of 0 degrees. Please let me know what i can do to fix this...

Thank you for your supports. The HDX450 SE V3 is now under 300usd with brushless motor. The ARTF kit is only 379.95usd with motor, esc, battery and gyro.

I'm very confuse it, if no what's major different between these 2 model?
I hope some one else can assit this and explain into more details

In this case, which model either T-REX or HDX450 SE would you suggest to buy?

they are indeed very similar...the major differences are the servo layout...canopy size...the head and tail are very similar as far as i can tell...if you are a beginner i would recommend that you go with the HDX450...its far cheaper and replacements are pretty much interchangeable with TREX Stuff...

Thanks from your info.
Is the head and tail size of HDX450 are similiar with TREX?

May i know what is the BEST chooice for brushless motor, servos, ESC, battery and battery charged for HDX450 model? Beside that, I also plan to buy CNC aluminum HDX450 Kit V3 rather than original stock plastics. Would you agreed? This is because my thought was using CNC aluminum at least is more stronger than stock plastics when the crashes occur. Am I right based on my opinion?

Yes, the parts are also interchangeable.

This is my set-up for the HDX450 and works well.
TX Futaba 6EXH ( good, but i am wishing i had got one with more channels for future expansion)
Gyro - 401
Tail Servo - S9650
Tail -Microheli Pro
Motor - Align 3550kv
Esc - Align 35a
Servos - Hitec HS65
Battery - There are many to choose from, get 11.1v 2100mah as a minimum. The megapower from helidirect are good and dont cost a lot either. I have Polyquest, Apex and Megapower.
Charger - Again, many to choose from and many different prices. I personally use the Align charger, in fact i have 3 and they all work well. The most popular IMHO is the TP1010c, but at $200.00 was too rich for me, i needed all my money for spares!

The CNC is personal choice, but it has held up well after crashes etc. I cant really compare against plastic as i have not flown or crashed one with plastic head, but imagine cnc is better.

May I know what's the advantages of using this popular TP1010c charged? What's features and capabilities? Which website can hv more info about this charged. Which online stored would you recommended to buy this charged? Is this TP1010c can charged Mega Power Li-Po 2200 mAH 18C, 11.1V??

Im using:
Motor: Align 430L 3550Kv
ESC: Castle Creations Phoenix 35A
Gyro: GY401
Tail: Futaba S9650 Digital
Cyclic: HS56HB from hitec
LiPo's: 2x Venom Power 11.1volt 2100mAh Packs
Radio: Spektrum DX6...but I will be going to a DX7 shortly...

I would definatle recommend the Aluminum parts as they are more durable and most are indeed interchangeable with the TRex stuff...

In my opinion the CC control and outrunner motors especially the 430L is not a good combo. The CC35 seems to run better with in runner motors.

My *current* config on the HDX450SE (V2) is:

Align "AGNH1227" stainless steel balls
Align "AGNH1126" link ends
Align 430L 3550KV Motor
Align RCE-BL35G ESC
GY401 gyro
HS56HB on cyclic
S9650 on tail
TP2100's on bats
DX6 radio

All is really great... but I have to wonder about the Thunder Power bats... they were "highly recommended"... but out of eight sets, I've had to send two back... one with no cycles on it (brand new) and one with only 14 cycles on it (balance lead failure). That is an interesting percentage of failure (25%)... and the customer support is, well... lacking IMHO (I haven't heard from them on the last return). Okay, this is now better. They replaced the second bat... and shortly thereafter, my three month old TP425 charger died. They replaced that, too.

I've had my μH tailset on it - and it's just great - but I've also had no problems with the stock tailset (although the earlier ones had a bit of bushing trouble, I understand). I've had HS65's on it (all around - cyclic and tail), also a G500T and a DS3400G... (liked the servo, not so much the gyro)... I've even flown it with S75s all around (cyclic and tail) and a RCE-500X gyro (the "inexpensive" setup)...

The heli simply flies very well, and is really fun to play with.

I dont have any problems running the CC controller with it...what were you noticing problems with in terms of running these together...

I've been flying my 3DX 450 with a BS35A Otter ESC. All of a sudden I plugged my battery into the ESC and seen smoke coming from it. Now I know its pooched but I was wondering what would cause this to happen all of a sudden.
Now the first time I plugged it in with radio on and it smoked right away, So again I know its not any good anymore. The second time I plugged it in the transmitter was off and the ESC did not smoke or anything. So the third attempt I turned on the transmitter and then plugged in the ESC and it started to smoke again. I can't see any visible reason for this to happen. Could this be caused by a low battery?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that, but all I can say is I have three (!) Otter ESC's here and I had nothing but trouble with them. You can see my experiences with them earlier in this thread.
The first was very erratic and Steve sent a replacement. That one burned immediately after install and he sent me another one. I did not dare to use that one in another heli.

I really don't know what caused your burnout, but you are lucky to have no other damage on the heli and I would strongly advice to invest in a good ESC.

Dont power the heli without TX being on, especially with a damaged ESC - if your heli spooled up you could find yourself in a nasty and dangerous situation. Get another ESC, but i dont recommend the otter.

The otter esc gave me nothing but headaches, i went through 2 of them before investing in the align 35a - havent had any problems since installing. Basically, IMHO - the otter is a waste of money.

The Otters dont seem to like "coggy" motors... I have been using mine fine with a 430L.

K, Thanks for everyone response. I will probably invest in an align ESC just to save the hassle.

I have a CC35 and dont have any problems with mine...but Bob mentioned that this ESC doesnt seem to work good with Outrunner style motors...although mine works fine with it...has anyone had any problems with this ESC?

I use the Futaba 7CP (FF7 in Europe) with the 146i PCM reciever. Works like a charm. However, if I would have to buy a new radio system today I would definitely go for the Spectrum DX 7 system. No more frequency flag hassle, no more crystals and a very direct control. And a better price tag.

Hello everybody,
-Finless good job on the vids

I am trying to decide between HDX 450SE and T-REX 450SE CDE.
What would you recommend me? (regardless of value for money)
