I have mine set up with linear curves for normal flying around (all I can do so far). On my 6EXH with 5-points for each, I'm using 0-25-50-75-100 for both. This seems to be working well, but I want to adjust my pitch curves so there is less negative pitch on my descents, maybe get it set to -1 degree-ish versus the -9 I have now with full low collective, it drops really fast if I panic and dump the collective!
If you have 3 points to adjust, you would set it to 0-50-100 for both.
I did set up my Idle-up pitch and throttle curves just for S&Gs to 100-90-85-90-100 for throttle and a linear pitch curve to go with it 0-25-50-75-100. It seems to also work well, although I don't do any 3D flying to test it out. Hope this helps.

Hey guys,
I have a broken left thumb, but I just couldn't help it. I flew my new hdx450 using my middle and ring fingers for the throttle stick. WOW!! I love flying this thing!! It flies like an absolute dream :D Special thanks to Bob for the vids, I couldn't have done it without you. You rock!!

I recently rebuilt my heli after a crash, and ever since the motor seems to pulse after you throttle up, and back down again.
Ive replaced the motor, tried an ESC from a TREX 450X and tried 3 different batteries !! All servos work fine, and do not pulse so i dont believe it its the reciever.
This has me more confused than a confused thing!

Hi guys,
I have almost finished building my HDX 450 V3, I'm waiting for the gyro & ESC to show up.
One thing I notice right away it that there's no weights on the paddles, is that normal or are the weights missing in my package?
Thanks.

Guys,
I just wanted to say that I'm very pleased with the HDX 450, I have finished building it and test flew it today, I didn't receive a new ESC and external BEC so actually it has the crappy BeltCP ESC with it's internal BEC, (extreme caution should be taken with this ESC because it doesn't have the soft start feature, I inadvertently moved the throttle while inside my house, throwing the BeltCP into the ceiling, this can't happen with a good soft start capable ESC since you have time to react before the rotor reaches lift off RPM).
Anyway, even with the BeltCP ESC, my HDX held the hover as good as my Trex 450, I even have the feeling that it's a little bit more stable and easier to control.
I'm very satisfied with my purchase and strongly recommend anyone else to get a HDX 450 if you want something cheaper with the same performance as the Trex 450.
BTW, I salvaged all the electronics of my BeltCP and threw the heli in the shit can.

Anyone know why the link to the frame build isn't working? It seems it is down or something. Thanks and take care.

I just tested it and it is working fine!
What problem or error are you getting?

Weird Bob. It is working now. I kept getting an error message saying file no longer existed and to contact an administrator. Weird stuff. Well it seems fine now. Not sure what is wrong, I had a customer tell me it was no longer working but it certainly is now. Thanks.

I'm thinking about buying one of these within the week. I'm torn between this HDX450 kit, or the yet-to-be released RC-Tek RCT450 Diablo. The diablo has lots of potential, but it's not mainstream yet. The only thing about the HDX that i'm curious about is the non-split frame. How does the frame hold up in a crash, and how expensive is it to replace if it breaks? The diablo has a split frame like the Trex, so it can be replaced cheaper. I've heard some people like the HDX450 v3 better than the Trex450SE v3, true?

Hi,
I dont own a trex450...so i can;t judge that one. But about the frame of the HDX....simply amazing. I.m.o. this is the best part of the HDX. I wont say unbreakable. But it's a tough one. So far i only heard about one guy breaking this frame (Sorry Barnowl ! )
I still fly it a lot. It's my "pick up and fly" heli at the moment.

Good to know. One more thing, what is the deal with the new "futuristic" FSE frame? Is it superior to the superframe?

@Trumpetrhapsody
Dont know :dontknow had a short look...but other then the color....
Another question...
Anybody tried to fit the align trex-450 main-gear on the HDX? Can't wait 2 weeks for my parts to arrive from HD overseas... hehe..sweaty hands, twitching eyes, NO i can stop this hobby anytime i want...
Thanks,
Maurice

Hey Maurice,
Main gear from a T-rex v2 will fit 150t main and 106t tail combo. 25T tail drive gear, main shafts, belts, 347mm tail boom, fins, boom brace, landing gear, fly bar, fly bar paddles, Feathering shafts with some modifications.
I don't know about the CNC head parts haven't needed them yet, but don't think it will be too much of a problem. Actually you may want to just buy a complete head SE head assembly once your HDX head is cashed along with an Align Tail. Super easy heli to work on. Watch Bob's video and you will be on your way to successful build
Buy yourself hs65mg's, I bought DS285 for 34.95 with plastic gears that strip if you look at the heli too hard. To add insult to injury Horizon's been on backordered for months now. I finally broke down and bought 3 metal gear sets for DS285 at 18.99 a crack. Damn things are now running me over 55 bucks a piece. Nice servo though!

My setup is as follows...
Kit: HDX450 Se V3
Hitec HS-55 servos for Ail,Ele,Throttle/Pitch
Tx: DX7 (airplane version)
Rx: Ar6000
I'm at the stage where I have the frame, head, maingear and servos installed. I assume because I'm using airplane version I have to reverse Ail, Throt, Elev, Pitch servos to get them moving in the proper directions as Bob indicates.
Here is my issue...
When I push forward on my elevator stick (forward flight), elevator raises (good), aerlion lowers (good), throttle stays put (bad). In Bob's video the throttle servo should lower.
Again, when moving left or right stick this servo stays put while elevator and aerlion exhibit the correct motion respect of the direction as in Bob's video.
The only time the throttle servo moves is when I push forward and back on the throttle stick.
What am I doing wrong with my setup?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Power on the radio holding down the 2 left buttons. This gets you to the model select menu. Make sure you chose HELI as the model type. now go to the swash plate choice and select 120. What you discribe means you have not set up the model for 120 swash. I dont know if the Airplane version has that or not but I would think it would.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I have Heli selected as model and yes I've set swashplate to 3 servo 120'.
I was reviewing your videos that came with the heli and this is what is stumping me.
Anything else you can think of?

Hi,
Throttle servo? You mean the pitch channel right? Or did you put that servo in the throttle channel instead of the Auxchannel?
What rx are you using? Ar6100 or Ar7000? (for AR7000 you should use Aux1)

What channel do you have the PITCH servo plugged into? It needs to be channel 6 (AUX 1). other than that plug that servo in another channel and make sure it is working at all...

I've got the pitch servo plugged into the "throttle" channel on the receiver.
Did I make a booboo?
Recall I'm a newbie. :dontknow

Plug the pitch servo into the Aux1 channel on your receiver (I'm using an AR7000) and plug the wire from your esc into the throttle channel on the receiver. Very minor booboo as long as you don't leave it like that. :D

It turns out that AUX1 was the receiver channel I needed to plug the servo into.
Thanks for your help guys.

On a related note...
As mentioned I have the DX7 and AR6000.
I have programmed the ESM as Bob described in a related video (TREX 450 SE Build). Everything is working as Bob described....
However! With the battery still connected to the ESC if I switch off my TX the motor on the heli spins to full throttle! If I turn on the TX everything behaves as it should.
I have the ESC plugged into the throttle on the receiver as Bob describes.
Is there something I'm missing here. This sounds like a safety risk...good thing I didn't have the motor spindle secured to the gear by loosening the grub screw.

Yes you MUST BIND the RX to the TX with the throttle stick low. THis sets the FAIL SAFE condition. So rebind your RX and now it wont do that.
