Hmmm unless they change the link length you might fine that you cant screw them down short enough to have the outut shaft at the top?

You want the ball on the servo arm to be about 13mm. This is in the servo setup video.

Thanks Bob
I just tried them with output shaft at the top....rear servo arm is going to foul the anti rotation bracket :dontknow
When I was at my LHC today I asked if they had any rod that I could use to lengthen the link, and all they had was a Trex ball link and rod kit, but only 1 rod in the whole kit looked like it might do the trick.
Any suggestions mate?
Cheers

Well, I just had a rummage through some of my Shogun parts.
I found 2 ball link rods that are just right, but now I need a 3rd :arggg:
Guess I have to hunt around some more stores tomorrow.

Gorn, there should be at least 3 linkages that can make 50mm. I use the Hitec 65 in my HDX, check out my gallery. I do not have an exact vertical line on the rods to the swash, but as long as you have a geometric even setup the way of travel of each servo should be the same.......

O, and ask Steve (HeliDirect) to sent you the right linkages. They should be in the kit.

Hi BarnOwl
The links I got were measuring out at 35mm from outside of ball link end to end.
Ive solved the problem with some Shogun links.
I see what you mean about the correct alignment on the 65's.
I will do what you have tried, looking at my bird now, has to be better :D
Must have this bird flight ready by sunday. Got a week off work at my brothers 50 acre property, lots heli space to have fun with.
Cheers

Guys, how the HDX behave when it crash? What I mean do the G-10 Frame crack??? Or is very hard?
What have you damage in your crashes?

Greetings Bob
Got the main frame all together today, im noticing a little play in the antirotation bracket. I also am thinking about using an additional battery tray @ an angle where the reciever platform is, Ideally i want to keep my $109.00 reciever out of the way of those paddles in the inevitable crash.

I emailed Helidirect regarding the tail shaft, I dont see a replacement on their website, it looks like our tail pulley is grub-screwed on, and not pressed like the align equivilant, and the Sonix/HDX tail shaft is definetly longer.

Im really interested in hearing the scoop on the revised grips and shorter feathering shaft.

Im preparing to order massive quantities of feathering shafts, flybars, main gears, tail shafts, tail booms, blades, since this is my first brushless belt-driven-tail heli. And i have almost as much fun crashing as I do flying. Thats just how I roll (or fly).

However i really need to know what will work with this chopper, and what definetly will not. Hopefully we can get that list, so i can begin my flying/crashing/spending spree

Have a great weekend
-Jason

Later in the vid series I talk about that. Leave it for now as later you will use CA glue to keep it from wobbling around!

You mean the Align parts? Steve said he would have a list soon.. If that is what your asking I will BUG him about that.....

Finless, exactly where in the series do you mention that? I missed it during my reviews. Thanks.

By the way, I have some nice Reverse Gyro Mounts for this Bird. They are $17 shipped to anywhere in the continental US. Add $3 more for anywhere in the world.

I think it is final assembly vid but in case I am dreaming since it's been a while since I shot those vids, just use some think CA where the frames and the anti rotation tabs go into the frames.
This will stop it from wobbling back and forth.

Thank you Bob. I doubt the wobble really hurts anything..., but i went ahead and CA'd it. I just like everything being taught i guess.

I was able to track down a vendor in australia who had sonix V2 tail shafts that will ship to the US for 5 bucks, so i feel alot more comfortable knowing that some of these replacement parts are available even when Helidirect may be out of stock.

2 quick questions

:?: Which tail servo should i use with the GY401, the airtronics digital 9417z, or the Futaba s9650? I am using a Hitec Eclipse 7PCM TX/RX

:?: Can I upgrade to a Silvertop Align 430L 3550 with the Otter 35A ESC should i feel that i need more power?

Thank You
-Jason

My kit came with a 15 tooth pinion....anyone else? I tried communicating with helidiirect but Steve takes forever to reply. Mine came off after the 3rd flight right after liftoff. I settled in the ballfield with only bent landing gear. This is a tough frame, no other damage. Anyway I noticed some bad threads in the pinion so I tried to order a new one. Seems the kit was supposed to have a 13tooth. Mine flys great with the 15tooth and no heat. I ended up tapping a new 4-40 hole for a setscrew and filed a flat on the motor. All is working great..flew all morning with no problems. Anyone else having problems with customer service at helidirect? I may have just spent my last $ there. Too bad too...he has great deals at times.

The deals are great, the communication is not good......I know they must be busy, but it is very annoying to see whenever there is a problem, the communications are very slow.

I usually get an answer after 2 or three emails. Everything gets solved in the end, but I am still waiting on my Sonix V2 tailparts Steve promised me.
He told me that new employees are getting worked in to improve customer service, but I cannot find any improvement so far.

I am still ordering from them, because they ship very fast and I get the parts faster and cheaper than any local webshop.
I am still at peace with HeliDirect, but it would be a real good place if communications improved..........

Go with the 9650 as it does work a little better than the AT servo.
Yes the 430L will run on the otter ESC BUT it still has a tad lower output than the Align ESC but at least it works.

I finally finished my HDX450SE build with tremendous gratitude to the Finless build videos. I deviated from the BOM (build of material) in one area. I removed the flimsy clevis that attaches to the rudder servo horn. I CA'd a ball link from my spare stock. I also removed the front centerline ball from the swash to gain more clearance for the canopy. Please feel free to check out my gallery. I flew it yesterday, nervously! Man that bird was rock solid. I could not believe how stable it was. Very pleased with it so far.

Nice buildup John. One suggestion: Don't coil your excess wiring but fold them. Coiling promotes electrical interference.

Steve,

The HDX 450 SE arrived this morning and MAN-O-MAN!!! This is one fabulous airship. I am simply amazed at the apparent value compared to the HeliMax and Align models i have seen and flown! I am trying to contain myself to a civil scream! :smokin:

I got soooooo reamed by the LHS on the MX400Pro that i cant imagine how i didnt see it coming.

Anyway THANKS for a great lookin product!
